Werk ohne Autor (2018)
Director/screenwriter Florian Henckel
Director/screenwriter Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Tourist, Lives of Others) definitely has his own vision/opinion. As a freelance artist, he is not afraid to portray the world as it is - shabby, dull, unfair, but at the same time leaves in the hearts of the audience the hope for justice, the hope to find meaning. "Work without authorship" is a very multifaceted movie, so to speak, about the high .., told with very heavy tools. Like an artist's brush, it passes over our face with sharp strokes, drawing sadness and sadness. It washes away falsehood from us, leaving only the truth. Kurt Barnert is in search of himself, in search of the present, but what is "I"? The one you were in the past or the one you have become? The plot is based on the biography of the German artist Gerhard Richter, who had many hardships, but, despite all the difficulties, he went to his goal. To find the truth is to find yourself. The author's picture for everyone who wants to enjoy beautiful views, excellent acting and musical accompaniment. And what will you go to find out the truth and tell the world about it?
Tenet (2020)
If we return to the "Beginning"
If we return to the "Beginning", then the film is more like an open lesson, where the teacher, i.e. Nolan, quite intelligibly and with an excited look, explains the principle of "lucid dreaming", shows in practice its implementation, and despite the complexity of this design, it looks very exciting, and open questions really arouse genuine interest, and you want to go to these lessons as often as possible . "Argument" is also more like an open lesson and with the same teacher, only the teacher himself now explains the new concept of "time inversion" somehow dryly and without interest. And you won't ask him again, and if you succeed, then again his explanations will sound even more incomprehensible and confusing. To feel all this, as one nameless character offers us, also does not work. The scenes that demonstrate this idea look beautiful and creative, no doubt. But at the same time, they do not feel the drive. The film is like a mechanism where each gear works smoothly, without interruption, but they forgot to put their soul into it.

Maudie (2016)
"Modi" is a film that is as amazing
"Modi" is a film that is as amazing, touching and beautiful as it is sad and unequivocal. Pushing side by side tenderness and rudeness, creativity and ignorance, Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, he shows his main characters are so incompatible that it is impossible to believe that they still found a common language, making sacrifices to each other. I'm not sure how accurate the film is to the real Maud Lewis, but 2016's greatest crime against cinema is the outrageous fact that Hawkins was not nominated for an Oscar for her role in this film. Without further ado: a woman is a diamond. A very powerful picture that leaves an indelible impression on the soul. But so sad that, despite the high rating, I do not recommend watching the film (especially at night). Unless you are ready to cry out of yourself to the last tear.
Paterno (2018)
The main problem with films like
The main problem with films like Paterno is boredom. It is not always possible to tell the biographies of people in such a way as to captivate the viewer. But in the film starring Al Pacino, this problem is taken to the extreme. The story of a well-known coach in the USA, embroiled in a sexual scandal, is presented so tediously and lengthily (with a fairly average timing for this genre of one forty hours) that it took me three visits to master it. Yes, and the film looks like an outright order, although the director himself condemns Paterno in the end or not - it's not very clear. Rather condemn. But in any case, to judge an 84-year-old terminally ill man for the fact that fifteen years ago, being also no longer a young man, he reported on a suspicious situation, which he himself was not a witness to, only to his superiors, and not to the whole world - the height of duplicity . Not to mention the fact that there is no official evidence that the case we are told about in the epilogue actually happened. Joe Paterno himself has donated more than one million dollars to charity in his life, and his coaching has opened the way for hundreds of young people to the National Football League. The film "Paterno" is disgusting. Duplicity, the desire to bury an excellent coach and person after his death, just because once in his life he did not tell the press about his suspicions. Terrible boredom in everything - from the image of the coach to the secondary storylines of journalists. And this is the case when even Al Pacino, no matter how great an actor he is, cannot save the picture. And no one could. Do not watch this movie, even if you have absolutely nothing to do. It is better to spend these 100 minutes on healthy sleep.
Clockstoppers (2002)
. As a child, like any child
. As a child, like any child, I loved children's family films with a pretentious plot and bright visuals: "Spy Kids", "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava", "Agent Cody Banks", "Ritchie Rich's Strange Christmas", but "Time Stoppers "Somehow passed me by, and it's more bad than vice versa. Because as a child, I probably would have liked it. And now it's more like a cheap cheap episode of a series like Hannah Montana, except that it looks more expensive. But the general level of staging, acting, plot is the same. Humor is sorely lacking, the dialogues seem to be written by a couple of schoolchildren left after school, and in general the film looks like a caricature of the films listed at the beginning. The only advantages of the picture are visual solutions that are not bad for 2002, related to the stoppage of time, and a relatively small running time of one hour twenty. If the movie had gone longer, I would probably have broken the laptop screen, unable to continue watching the antics on the screen and the incredible absurdity of what is happening. In general, I expressed my opinion, but it's up to you to decide whether to watch this picture or, after reading the reviews, never think about it again (in the name of good films and bright childhood memories). Do not flatter yourself at the expense of the plot, trying to talk about the benefits or perniciousness of games over time. Youth fiction / comedy chose this topic only for games ... with special effects (2002 - the time when the Matrix trilogy had not yet ended and the creators, of course, were eager to repeat the famous "bullet time"). In general, I don't want to make claims that this is a superficial and clumsy teenage film, completely devoid of real irony and satire, because time does not spare such tapes anyway (for that year it was edible, albeit optional nonsense, from which the target audience could get some pleasure).
Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
Many great directors have not
Many great directors have not avoided the Vietnamese theme, but Barry Levinson's attempt to speak out on this subject is surprising. First of all, the low compatibility of the genre with its distinctive style and soft approach (after all, even dramatic events are not buried in black tones). And in this case, the war is not viewed through the prism of an insane meat grinder, positive moments are found in it to raise morale, there is a place for friendship, love, mutual understanding. Simply put, even there people find a place to live and even have fun; but do not forget that this is an artistic technique that smooths out the sharp corners of military everyday life in real time. The image of the radio host Kronauer, who daily invigorates his listeners - a soldier stronger than black coffee, is largely written off from the famous literary freedom fighter Till Ulenspiegel. In a relaxed atmosphere, he includes a comedian-satire, witty ridiculing the vices and shortcomings of people in power, but also does not forget his life wisdom and responsibility when it comes to serious situations. The picture can be called chamber, as opposed to the epic and scale of "Apocalypse Now" or "Full Metal Jacket" in terms of the deepest psychological study of all sides of the war. Levinson's tape is more aimed at giving human features in such inhuman conditions, because if conflict is inevitable, then you should not be likened to animal predatory instincts. It is necessary to separate the wheat from the chaff in all situations, even at the cost of violating the order, which may be followed by a tribunal. Apparently, the director's idea was not in the modesty of the plot, but in a more cheerful presentation and bright, as far as possible, intonation, aimed at preserving human dignity and unquenchable faith only in the best.
Der Fall Collini (2019)
It seems that court dramas have filled
It seems that court dramas have filled all the space around, and do not give way, solving any problem only in the meeting room. But the format does not imply restrictions for plot collisions, it is only a form that can be given original content. Especially when it is possible to violate a seemingly immutable point for this genre (that the law is always right), calling into question the very system of law, its acceptance and approval. The beginning story of the formation of a young lawyer (novel-education), appointed to defend a murderer proven by a whole mass of evidence in court, meets with the standard dilemma of feeling and duty. The victim was his patron, his granddaughter was his girlfriend, that is, a personal interest immediately appears, but it is no longer possible to abandon the case, since such variability can have a bad effect on a future lawyer career. But in order to pass a sentence, it is necessary to establish the motive for the murder or obtain a confession, but the killer is fundamentally silent. Naturally, a tangle of a mysterious incident begins to unwind, originating in the distant past. An analysis of further events, even a hint at the relationship between the defendant and the victim, can damage the viewer's pleasure, since a completely different picture of the film or the second bottom is revealed. In addition to covering various topics such as duty, honor, a sense of justice (even local topics are touched upon, since the main character is Turks, who are treated with disdain in Germany as national minorities), the main thing on the agenda is the search for truth, even impartial. What seemed obvious at the beginning, where is good and where is evil, still requires a thorough investigation, which is the duty of a lawyer, and this will bear fruit (as the advice sounded in the film - "today you abandoned the case, because here family matters, tomorrow you won't like it that the client was selling drugs that you consider evil, at such a pace you won't take anything at all"). And this is true, it is necessary to step over any barriers, when it seems that the truth is on the surface, in order to get to the true truth through a thorny path, which can change a lot around.
Calibre (2018)
This action-packed
This action-packed picture contains many messages regarding human behavior, especially in extreme situations, revealing the true essence of character. And all this is rooted in a sense of irresponsibility that puts self-interest at the forefront at the expense of irreversible consequences. This is if you really dig very deep, trying on the fatal mistake of the main characters to any other mistakes that could start an uncontrolled process of aggravating their own situation. You should not go hunting, and even on a drunken head, otherwise you can get into the pages of the novel "Crime and Punishment" - this is how the authors would have designated their idea. The whole film is similar to the passage of a person through the circles of hell, testing him for strength. The appropriate entourage was also selected - two urban visitors in the rural outback, living according to their own laws of the jungle, and besides, historical relationships add tension - the English among the Scots. The narrative is very dynamic, without lyrical digressions and emotional experiences (although this point, not its absence, but rather a conditional image, gives rise to doubts about the authenticity of the emotions experienced by the characters), and the growing suspense reaches its highest point, when the roles of hunters change, and they already become victims, driven into a corner. And all this is crowned by an ethical denouement, where the choice is decided dramaturgically - to be or not to be a man?! In addition to the turbulent flow of the plot, complex moral dilemmas, the picture also captivates with stunning landscapes of the natural landscapes of Scotland, the harsh climate of which gives a peculiar charm and unique flavor.
Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922)
The aristocratic vampire Dracula
The aristocratic vampire Dracula, also known as the Nosferatu vampire, is the product of the talent of Irish novelist Bram Stoker, the central character of a gothic novel released in 1897. The gloomy coloring and demonic appeal of the characters and events of the novel turned out to be magnetically attractive to filmmakers. One of the first canonical and "epochal" film versions of the adventures of the Halloween king was the 1922 film "Nosferatu, a symphony of horror", staged based on the novel (the film adaptation was banned by the widow of Bram Stoker) by the young German Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, who later became the largest figure in European silent cinema and a recognized master film expressionism. The first Dracula was black-and-white and silent, called Count Orlok from Transylvania, played by Max Shrek. The Count was almost devoid of humanity and most of all resembled a repulsive monster, which can easily be found in modern anime films: thin, with exorbitantly long arms and terribly clawed fingers, a bald head retracted into his shoulders, sunken eyes in black circles, a prominent nose and incisors (not fangs yet!). His murderous adventures take place against the background of annoying unpleasant music, almost in an ultrasonic register. Shrek returned to the image of Dracula several more times, but only his first experience became a cult one. In 2000, E. Elias Merige directed the film "Shadow of the Vampire" in an attempt to recreate the process of Murnau's work on his ingenious creation, overgrown with many terrible rumors. The role of Max Shrek-Dracula was played by Willem Dafoe. In the 1970s, Dracula returns to his roots, becoming a more voluminous, dramatic character who is burdened by his immortal shell, bestial instincts and overwhelming loneliness. In 1978, the German Werner Herzog, master of the documentary genre and champion of the actor's complete psychological immersion in the inner world of the character, makes a remake of the above-mentioned film of his compatriot Murnau "Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night". Starring his hated-beloved actor Klaus Kinski, who had great talent and an even more unbalanced character. The difference between the image of Kinsky and the Nosferatu of 1922 is less grotesque, deeper psychological and philosophical overtones of the character and a sense of tragic doom.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
The tape is not burdened
The tape is not burdened with excessive elegance and originality, inferior to the grace and coolness of its predecessors, whom it endlessly quotes with gratitude (and how many references did you count?) ... but there is so much sun in it, so much dazzlingly sunny disarming femininity of Emily Blunt, which is not spoiled by the murderous English character, her surprisingly successful (not annoying!) duet with the cute old-fashioned Rock, which was a big question mark; Jesse Plemons and his caricatured German add spice - the twists and jokes associated with him are positively good, although there are few frankly successful finds and humor in the film. The continuous fuse and drive of this attraction is enough for more than two hours and it does not pull at all to press the "stop" button. Summary: more good than bad.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
It looks like a modernized
It looks like a modernized version of some big-budget Jackie Chan movie. And with the accompanying elements of the wuxia genre. Even the main character was given the features of the familiar image of the famous Chinese - the same modest, good-natured simpleton, skillfully owning martial arts. The film certainly makes an impression, mainly due to those mechanisms that work well for Marvel - these are action scenes that are masterfully done here and a light tone of narration with pleasant humor. In a word, the attraction is really entertaining. Also with oriental flavor, lush colors of beautiful landscapes, subtle rhythm of battles. But what fails - an entertaining story, compelling dramaturgy, family drama - at least it does not focus on itself in a negative way. Rather, it is perceived simply as a typical basis on which the more successful aspects of a work of art shine.
Sherlok Kholms (2013)
Starting this project
Starting this project, the fellow countryman of the famous detective Guy Ritchie swung at an elusive task. Another adaptation of the world-famous stories and short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle about Sherlock Holmes competed only with Dracula in the record number of feature films about one literary character. The director of the films "Cards, Money and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", famous for the sparkling dialogues and the dynamism of his actions, turned the fireplace detective into a whirlwind crime thriller with comedy elements. Moreover, he gave a comic-like form, brilliance, showiness to a rich literary source. A special place is occupied by Richie's love for his hometown, so the image of Victorian London not only created the right atmosphere, but also gave additional charm to the tape itself. It is also able to please lovers of sensible content with a fascinating and twisted detective story, deft spinning of intricate tangles, high society dialogues, noble deeds, refined manners, intellectual brilliance, grace of gentlemen and charming ladies. And lovers of entertaining form, dashing editing and stylish pictures will also like it. A whole scattering of genres presented from a crime thriller with a mystical touch to an adventure film with elements of comedy will juggle various tricks. The music of Hans Zimmer with a set of ancient instruments, tavern motifs will plunge the audience into the past, full of secrets, mysteries and amazing events. The icing on the cake is the cast, in particular, the acting duet of Robert Downey Jr. And Jude Law playing Holmes and Watson, respectively. The so-called chemistry here literally boils, bubbles and overflows. The first was awarded the Golden Globe for his performance. Here, both the dramatic and comedic abilities of Downey were fully manifested. He is self-ironic, careless, at times ridiculous and ridiculous, but at the same time, "when the brain does not rebel against idleness", he is serious, maximally focused, responsible, easily changes masks on his face and, coupled with charisma, charm and frenzied energy, gives rise to a voluminous , bright and unique image on the screen. And the humane, respectable and comradely faithful Watson complements and decorates their duet. Holmes' natural giftedness, erudition, pampering with his intellect, when he feels superior to the world around him and teases at least the policemen, at least over Watson, at least over the sinister antagonist in the face of Mr. Blackwood, at least over the charming seductress and thief Irene Adler; his virtuoso thinking of actions a few steps ahead (those scenes with scrolling the script in his head and putting it into practice are a stunning and effective artistic feature of the film), unraveling complex cases and exposing London scoundrels and crooks - makes you want to try on these "superhero" abilities and simply cannot but fall in love with the hearts of the audience!
No Time to Die (2021)
Three parts Gordon's gin, one part vodka
Three parts Gordon's gin, one part vodka, one part Kina Lillet. Shake well until it is icy and then add a long slice of lemon zest. Understood?... An amazing trend has recently conquered the theatrical (for the theater and film actor himself) and cinema art - to squander the first act of the action and joyfully exalt the second. Looking ahead, I will say - this time even this did not happen. Bond just got dumped. Yes, it's beautiful, with an epic standing against the backdrop of the ocean, but they leaked it. The 2006 reboot of the story about Her Majesty's Agent (just 4 years after the last film with Brosnan, who for me is the standard of Bond in appearance, but this is not a paradigm - my ex-Wife only recognizes Sir Connery), took place and raised the bar for films " Bonds" to the newest level. Both in terms of quality and high cost (the first film in the series cost only a million and a little green biscuits, and the last one at the moment is from 250 to 300!) Gorgeous Mads Mikkelsen, Eva Green, and, of course, Craig. Fears were dispelled, success happened, and everything turned into a loud pentalogy. And here is where the five took a wrong turn. Before going to the cinema, I reviewed all the films of Craig-Bond ("Quantum" did not take, excuse me, but even the creators admit that this is the weakest film in this series). The number of outright blunders grew exponentially. I will make a reservation - "Skyfall" is also not without sin, but it is an excellent, if not the best film of this thread. And then it happened "It's not the time ... to remember that they couldn't get into me from machine guns-machine guns-grenade launchers-explosions of a crowd of trained mercenaries in UPOR and suddenly ...". I'm not saying the movie is bad. The catchphrase "Bond. James Bond", which has become a catchphrase, is played with first-class humor, the camera work is excellent, the special effects, albeit inappropriate and bad in places, are nice to watch on the big screen, the action is also good, just ... Since you arranged the send-off, it might be worth it to do it somehow ... more honestly or something? .. Go to the cinema, make up your mind, in any case you will not waste time in vain.

Retfærdighedens ryttere (2020)
"Knights of Justice", in my opinion, is never a comedy
"Knights of Justice", in my opinion, is never a comedy. Undoubtedly, there are elements of black humor in the tough showdowns with the enemies of the Danish "prince" Markus (the incomparable Mads Mikkelsen), who shreds bandits in batches with any means at hand, and, sometimes, with his bare hands. Even his own get it from him in the heat of the moment ... But for the time being, he is such an imperturbable Marcus. His friends are also involuntarily funny, especially the plump Emmental (Nicholas Bro), a computer genius, an experienced hacker, a nervous, but defenseless good-natured man, eager to become cool and take revenge for child abuse. I liked all four "knights" very much. I wrote about Marcus (Mads) and Emmental (Nicholas). It remains to tell about the rest of the no less colorful characters: the strange theorist Otto (Nikolai Lie Kaas, remembered for the series of detectives "Mysterium") and the last of the Mohicans - Lennart (Lars Brugmann, I liked it in the recently watched Danish TV series "Dikte Svendsen", just a very good actor and a charming person). A sort of Scandinavian John Wick without a dog. With breaks for sentimental conversations, tears and attempts to connect broken life ties. Moreover, all this is sincere, without strained pathos and morality imposed in the teeth. In general, as it was said in the film, the team was not brought together by chance, as they initially thought. After all, there are an innumerable number of chains that led to sad events - it's impossible to track everything, since each one goes another million, and from these ... further exponentially. Not a train accident, a tragic plot that occurred at the beginning of the story (this was stated in the synopsis - not a spoiler, not a spoiler!), But the broken fates of the film's characters. Everyone drank their cup of pain and humiliation, even the youngest participants in the tragedy have already managed to sip the bitter poison of deprivation. But fate or fate (or whatever else) nevertheless brought these completely different people into a single team. And they have a chance to become happy. As far as it is at all possible.
Eternals (2021)
A rather risky and ambitious project
A rather risky and ambitious project, which, in the case of converged stars and other fortunate circumstances, could become a turning point in the MCU. In fact, this is what he turned out to be, but most viewers (especially fans) are not happy with this. Yes, the story here is different, there are no usual formations of characters, and the GG is not opposed by villains with identical abilities. Non-linear narrative breaks the harmony of the film, but you get used to it easily. And by the beginning of the credits, you understand what, why and why these scenes were shown and in that sequence. If the film is scolded, then only for a number of questions and illogicalities that it leaves behind. But they scolded the conditional Raganarok for the same thing or for much bigger problems, God forgive me, the Finale? Not! The vast majority were delighted. Here, if desired, you can find logical answers to many questions. And now briefly for the rest: the actors are chosen well and play well. Inclusiveness does not strain the eyes and is quite self-explanatory. And white and heterosexual men are shown to us even more than we expected from the first promo. Each hero has his own story arc and his own moments of glory. Problems can only arise with remembering names. The main plus of the film is the presence of any eggs from the scriptwriters, who for once brought plot twists to the MCU (a little more than one) and showed a real confrontation between the characters not for life, but for death, in contrast to the children's brawls in "The First Avenger 3." Lots and lots of details. The music is interesting and stands out from its predecessors for the better. Chloe Zhao - well done and coped with the task perfectly. Working with the material given to her, she embodied the maximum. Claims already to these same suppliers. P. S. I'm waiting for the sequel, and I will definitely go to the cinema if it takes place.

Tomb Raider (2018)
It turned out to
It turned out to be a film competently shot to please modern requirements. Although the main character does not shine with our forms, it is pleasant to look at her throughout the film. The Oscar-winning acting qualities of Alicia Vikander mainly affected here. To show the transformation from a fragile girl into a strong warrior with evil is more believable than it probably would not have happened to every actress. And fortunately, my initial fears about the film did not materialize. I sincerely wish the movie would pay off. It is painfully interesting to what level the adventures of Lara Croft will go in the sequel.
Shazam! (2019)
In general
In general, it will come down for once. A little drama, a little morality, a little fighting. All corners are smoothed. The balance is not perfectly kept, the ending is tightened. The film went well, without negativity, but I'll be honest, I regretted my 150 rubles. However, you can go with children.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Ideally, they simply
Ideally, they simply would not have taken it off. The second part had its drawbacks, such as a boring mission to kill the customer's sister and the customer himself, to be honest, not a very interesting character, but the elaboration of the world was at its best. Here this side of the film was improved and John Wick ... not boring to watch. The plot itself was something in the spirit of a meat chop, but thanks to the writers for reminding the audience that they are there and adding a bunch of details, including how John just makes a bunch of deals with other people in order to somehow solve all the problems in a hurry. This is definitely a plus. Besides, they guessed what I wanted from the third act. From the action, they were able to come up with almost everything that is required from the genre. Great humor and proper application of Keanu Reeves with Ian McShane. I am very pleased with the viewing."

Except for some of the less interesting dialogue, "Dark Phoenix" turned out to be a very solid piece of stuff that I love to see in comic books. Here, finally, the characters do not compete in who is wittier in joking and making faces, and the action is brutal (the episode on the train is head and shoulders above everything that was in the genre of 8-9 years old) and is not fixated on the imperial scope. In short, what to spread. It's just a great movie that for some time I didn't mind spending money on a movie ticket a second time."
Beoning (2018)
The film "Burning
The film "Burning", in addition to plot twists and turns, chooses the social inequality of people as its main theme. The main character, Lee Jongsu, experienced the departure of his mother from the family as a child. His father's irascibility, which later ended in a prison term, also did not brighten up his existence filled with hardships. Then the army, convulsive throwing in search of work and food. The book is a cherished dream, the writing of which is not progressing. A sudden meeting with an old friend, a neighbor in the village, returns to the past, makes you remember the past life. However, the liveliness and purposefulness of the girlfriend cannot get along with the earthiness of the hero, and he lets her go in search of a dream in Africa. The return of the girl with a more successful friend in all respects kindles jealousy in Lee. And the disappearance of a friend and the recognition of her new friend about the habit of setting fire to ownerless greenhouses becomes an obsession for Zhang Su. There are almost no detective notes in the picture. It is more important for the main character not to find the missing girlfriend, but to understand his counterpart, the girl's friend, his aspirations. The finale may at least not shock, but surprise with an "explosion", unexpected for many. And, despite the numerous hints of a positive answer, when I was watching, I often had one, akin to the well-known about a boy, question: "Was there a cat?"
Joker (2019)
Strange sensations after viewing
Strange sensations after viewing, we can say for sure: "Joker" is exclusively a one-man show of the genius Joaquin Phoenix. This is a purely experimental movie, created clearly with an emphasis on the talent of Joaquin. The best big-screen portrayal of the iconic DC comics villain since Heath Ledger. Take Phoenix out of the film, and no matter the script, direction, cinematography and music, as well as the social subtext, no matter how great they are presented individually, without Phoenix it will not work. Without a doubt, this film is better than everything that came out within the framework of the DC Universe, created by Zack Snyder. But... Todd Phillips, give the top prize at the Venice Film Festival to Joaquin. It's his prize, not yours.
