Dragon Wars: D-War (2007)

Made me cry....................

Yea i said made me cry. I was crying because i spent 7.50 on a very bad film. I was reminded of the old Godzilla films , the acting was at about that level. CG could not save this film, as far as that go's nothing could save this film. Bad story line, bad acting and not very impressive CG. The story line jumped around and gave you no real feel for this movie. The actors were second rate on all counts and would have been better with Japanese actors wit sub titles or at least equal. CG had many mistakes in it, they tried to use the blur effect to demonstrate fast moving animation and it just made my eyes hurt. Don't go pay for this very poorly done and obviously rushed film. I think it will be on video in the next month or so. In the bargain bin in 3 months, not that it will justify a rental or even a 1.99 purchase. It might have made a good anime cartoon, but not a movie. You will feel riped off if money leaves your pocket for this one.

Harry's living a dream

If you read the book: I think that this movie hit on more points of the book then any other of the Potter movies, as brief as some parts were. I know some think it didn't follow the book , but they cant make a 10 hour movie. The part with Graup could have been extended more as well as the Centaurs. They went dark with this film as was advertised, it has left the realm of children's book and now is more adult based. I do and don't agree with that, I don't because it started as a children type movie and isn't really made for the 4 to 7 year olds who were drawn in by the first 4 movies. Why i do, is because it has made the film much more intense and more attractive to a older viewing audience.

If you didn't read the book: This movie was made more for you, and it for the most part will keep you in a conversation with someone who did read the book. Of course some who has read the book will know more details of how certain parts transpired. The filming of this movie was done in a very different way from the past direction. It draws you into the story far better then past Potter productions. You get a feel of the intense emotions of Harry and Friends. This is all setting up for the next movie/book, and not by accident. If you think this movie is dark, "The Half Blood Prince" will make this look like Mary Poppins. I do look forward to that. Go see this film, it will be worth it, just be sure if you are bringing young children to guide them as this could scare them a bit.

Ratatouille (2007)

Rats....that was good

Kids of all ages will like this film, Pixar has put out some great titles and this will be another one in a great film making history. Very good story and of course animation of the best quality, characters are fun and not over done. It made me laugh many times as the whole theater did, and even got an applause at the end from the movie going patrons.

You should get the family together and jump in the car and catch this movie, and when the DVD comes out get it and put it with Toy Story, Monsters Inc. as it falls in line with these great animated films.

Kids will watch this one over and over again. I know, because my kids made me watch it twice in three days, and i didn't mind.

I will say nothing about the movie and give no clues to its content, you need to watch it and find out for your self. I think i will take my neighbors kids next, just so i can go see it again.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Should have been a day time soap

I walked into the theater with no real expectations, i didn't want to set myself up for disappointment. Well it couldn't be helped since i watched this film. This series of spiderman doesn't follow either the comic books or the last installments, it seemed to me more of a director/producers vision of what spiderman should be. To me special effects are great if used as a part of the story and not"as was the case in spiderman 3" to make the movie. No one can say the effects were not good, they were, but to what end. To cover up a really horrible told story. I read many comics as kid and spiderman was some of what i liked, never did spiderman make friends with his enemies like was portrayed in this movie. It was ridiculous. Then of course the whole original ides of our heroes evil side, i was waiting for superman to fly in with his nicotine based kryptonite. Oh and we cant forget how to get to the good guy can we, grab his girlfriend. WOW never seen that before. I think the name of this movie would have been more descriptive if it were"Spiderman 3 the cliché'" very unoriginal. Now the love triangle boy meets girl, girl loves boy , girl goes back to EX, EX uses girl , other boy gets mad and does the same, then at the end they are all friends again.........SIGH........ That hurt just writing that. Over all i see this movie only as a possible DVD collection, only to make your series complete, nothing more. I give this movie a 5, but that is purely on the special effects parts of the movie. I left the theater feeling betrayed, and feel they spent so much on advertising that my ticked must have helped pay for that. Don't go to the theater, stay home and rent the DVD when it comes out in three months. At least that way you have a toilet to run to after this film makes you sick.

300 (2006)

Only if your easy to please

I see many high raves about this film, and I'm left wondering. Does anyone care about a story, or is just blood and guts they want to see. In this movie how many times do heads get decapitated. OHH AHHH. If that is what entertainment is, what has Hollywood come to, or society.

If you want to see slow motion blood flying through the air"100 times" in one movie its for you. If you want to see decapitations"100 times" in one movie this is for you. If you want to see monsters that were ripped of from (Lord Of The Rings)then i guess you might enjoy this movie. Look it's not the worst movie in the world, i wouldn't say that. I saw a lot of 10 scores and i just don't think this movie belongs there.

Acting:OK = 1 point Cinematography: great +2 points Effects: repeated over and over =0 points Originality: None = 0 points Directing: a lot of money to make a quick production = 1 point

I look for more then just blood and nudity to make up a movie, i didn't feel i got that from this. Or much of anything else but a headache, as the theater had the volume on full blast.

Firehouse Dog (2007)

Kids should love it

This is a movie the kids are sure to enjoy, yea it has the same plot most movies of this genera have, bad guy, good guy, and a animal hero, with a couple added new things in it. Over all its worth a rental if nothing else. The best actor is the "Dog" , not to say the human actors were that bad but the movie focuses on the mutt and that's what you should get out of it. It will probably be a rental fairly quickly and that is what i would recommend for those not willing to fork out 60$ bucks to take the family. As an adult i thought it was a half way decent film, not boring even if it is a bit predictable. If you like animal acting type films , you should like this one.

Mission to Mars (2000)

Surprised at some reviews

I think the people that gave it 1's was out of spite more then anything, as maybe it didn't live up to their expectation. When i first saw this movie in 2000, i had no idea what i was walking into the theater to see. I sure as heck not going to say this was the best sci-fi i have ever seen, but it wasn't a 1. I believe if they added to much more to this movie to add so called facts. it would have been a 4 hour long movie. They had to make the characters believable with out over stating their personality's. The special effects were good and the whole idea of the movie was believable. It may not have as much action in it as the trailers made it to look , there was enough to keep you interested for most of the movie "a couple slow parts are in it" I true Sci-Fi fan would enjoy this movie, if you are an action fan it might not be what you want to see "RENT". If your undecided , give it a chance.
