Violent Night (2022)

Now pops and I have 2 to watch
5 December 2022
My dad and I only have one Christmas tradition we quietly sit, have a drink, and watch die hard. This movie was perfectly campy AND christmasy! The stunts, kills, creativity, and actual acting just made this a great time! I'm stoked for the actors such as David Harbour who have in the recent past had some flops because this movie will be watched repeatedly whether just randomly during the year but definitely at least once every December! The cast did a great job, the jokes and humor were solid yet not beat you over the head like many recent films. There are references to die hard and home alone, I also swear they mixed some of the die hard music into the movie at one point! At the end of the day, can't say enough and I will be seeing this again!

A great send off and a great beginning
11 November 2022
Disney/Marvel please give us more of this! It was a return to form and better! The characters were real and grounded. There was actual emotion from the actors/actresses/characters and throughout the movie as a whole. A laugh here or there, PERFECTLY BALANCED (as all things should be). As someone who recently lost a loved one, the movie hit me in the feels hard, something I've come to not expect from a Disney/Marvel production. I mean seriously loved this movie. I also find it admirable how respectful the production was towards Mr. Boseman. I'm also glad they did not over play Ironman through Riri Williams. Of course there's always something to nitpick but they were completely overshadowed in my opinion. Someone please give Ms. Bassett a damn crown, she was a jewel in this film! I will 100% see this again!

When Cavill leaves I will not be watching!
7 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As an audience, we have a voice. If we don't watch Hollywood will change. To see an actor of Cavill's caliber, who also loves the source materials openly leave the show because of crappy writing and the inability of the show runners to let go and just use the source materials is a real shame. Just like I'm not watching the crap shows marvel is pushing out right now, I will not be watching the Witcher once Mister Cavill leaves. We as an audience have got to start using the little power we have by not even watching the garbage these huge studios are pushing out. Just because it's there doesn't mean it's worth a damn. Feel bad for Mister Cavill, especially after him saying this is his dream role, sorry mate, the fans stand with you!

Almost walked out

I will use this movie to show my kids what toxic relationships look like. Allyson becomes one of the dumbest people I've ever seen on screen. I literally couldn't stop throwing my hands up saying moron. The actors/actresses did their jobs well but they couldn't hold up this crappy storyline and script wrote by someone who seemingly doesn't know how humans interact via speech. The big final showdown lasts as long as my first time. Good kills when there actually are some. Huge let down. Lastly, if you think this movie was well wrote I question your sanity. I can understand how Laurie is wrote but wtf happened to Allyson being a strong woman, the character completely falls apart.

Resident Evil (2022)

This show taught me three things
15 July 2022
1. They'll never make a good resident evil film/show. 2. Jade is basically the worst person of all time. 3. Lance Reddick is the only redeeming quality of this show adaption. Jade's decisions make her one of the least likable protagonist I've ever watched.

Fun but Repetitive
15 June 2022
Disney makes a messy yet entertaining attempt at closing the Jurassic world trilogy. JW1 was pretty good enjoyed it over all besides it being a carbon copy of JP1. JW2 we don't need to talk about. JW3 even with all the hate it seems to be getting was surprisingly entertaining for me. I had low hopes for this movie. Disney has become complacent with their ability to regurgitate films and ideas while painting it with cameos and Easter eggs, LOOKING AT YOU STAR WARS. However, the entire ensemble really made the movie enjoyable! From introducing new characters that had spine and seemed real, unlike JW2, the additions of Dewanda Wise and Mamoudou Athie were solid (loved Ms. Wise in this), Goldblum did his thing but the additions of Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler we're merely for fan service and Disney's addiction to cameos/nostalgia. (Not detracting from the performances given). The story while what you have come to expect from the current Disney model was surprisingly improved not as many tropes and unrelenting call backs that actually allowed the movie to feel slightly fresh. At the end of the day if you haven't seen top gun see that instead but if you enjoy dinosaurs and a good cast this wasn't a bad way to spend an evening getting away from reality. Solid 6/10 for me.

Moon Knight (2022)
6/10
50/50

The show in total is great. The settings are amazing, the cast kills it. However, that's the rub Issac does such a great job portraying Steven I literally have to fast forward through his parts. I understand his character but his incompetence in the face of life and death is laid on too thick for me personally. I enjoy the idea of the characters and the acting is top notch, I just personally dislike steven's character. While I think many of the other marvel shows and even movies lately have been just meh, Moon Knight is actually worth watching.
