This Fool (2022)
A glimpse to my life
As horrible as it sounds, it felt like I was living my life through a camera lens but through Julio's life. LOL.
The ominous birthday song killed me, I bursted out laughing as soon as they started chasing Julio with a cake. Even the part where the sister's birthday was forgotten was relatable.
This show was insanely funny, so relatable, not "gentrified," heart-warming, and not political. Easily, this show became a favorite. This Fool reminds me of The Last OG but with Mexicans. Another funny show to check out. The dark humor was perfect as well, not too cringy.
There have been many shows that depict the Mexican-American life or Chicano life but this show has felt more at home because it's not so polarized with LA influences. The show was filmed in LA but the "neighborhood" tones felt like they could've easily filmed it in your "hood."
It's unfortunate that these other Latino shows didn't make it, but I have high hopes for this show. Eventually, I would like to see something similar but with the perspective of a real Chicana. (Broad City with Chicanas.) 😇
A League of Their Own (2022)
Dont believe the negative reviews
This show is enough to give it a chance. The fact that the classic movie was made into a show is enough reason to take a peek. First of all, I understand the whole politics side of it and the over-sexuality. I get that, but guess what? There's shows like Euphoria that take these issues into deeper waters, this one doesn't. Let's not forget that there's still not a lot of shows and movies where women take the lead (and make it.) Historically speaking, it's gets pretty close to the time. Is it basically a more modern, remixed version of the film? Yes! Does it deliver the message from the original movie? Yes! Overall, it's good. The negative people are trippin'. Sorry the show wasn't made to your liking, let's not forget we're not real critics. 😇
