Fast X (2023)

Same as the rest but with a slightly funnier villian.
18 May 2024
So at this point it was seldom going to be a change in quality for the what feels like 29th installment of a franchise I can only think still exists at this point because Vin Diesel has some very compromising photos of some very influential Directors / producers and studio execs!??

Not much to say really, just another messy, crazy, physics defying and just plain silly instalment of boy racers save the world! Vin Diesel still has the most one dimensional acting "skill"...... (seriously is there a guy in Hollywood who's a worse actor but still gets a leading role in big budget movies?). Ludacris is still funny in 2 out of his standard 5 lines each movie and as long as they keep throwing a new A-List action star into the mix each time then people will still cover the box office right??

Yeah as with nearly all of these now it's just "meh"..... although I really did enjoy Jason Momoa, the silly, camp sociopath was pretty ground breaking for this franchise and he at least did the best he could with the character and was probably the only really positive thing about the whole film! Anyway I'm sure we'll all enjoy seeing a 76yr old Dominic saving the world against Alien Cyborgs with laser guns in Fast n Furious 63! I'll still watch them...... but from the comfort of my sofa and Netflix account as always!

Bullet Train (2022)
9/10
Surprised how good it was!!
9 May 2024
Cannot believe I didn't watch it sooner! How many times I saw the trailers for this film and thought it looked so dull! I really just thought it was just Brad Pitts people getting him into the Asian Market and this ticked boxes..... happy to say I was wrong! Just loved it from start to finish, great engaging plot line, great and hilarious actors, great fight scenes! Maybe I enjoyed it so much because I didn't expect much from it, maybe it's because I'm a huge Tarantino fan? (Yes it's very very Tarantino-esqe) or maybe it really was just that good! The characters were really varied and plentiful.... Pitt is always a pretty solid bet when casted, he thrives on these action comedy roles! The plot was just smart enough without trying to be too clever and difficult to follow and even the main protagonist wasn't silly overpowered and inhuman! A few little twists are thrown in for good measure and most importantly for myself there's no dull "filler" scenes where the movie try's to appeal to the Academy for 5mins with no real point! Highly recommend this film.....

Bad Friends (II) (2020 Podcast Series)
10/10
The Best Comedy Podcast Of All Time!
1 May 2024
Podcasting is gonna be a huge part of future entertainment and I'm slightly worried Bobby & Andrew may have already caused this type of platform to peak! Now whereas I still enjoy 2 Bears & YMH, TFATK, King & The Sting and many others.... Nothing even comes close to the chemistry that Santino and Bobby Lee have created! I have watched every episode from start to finish at least twice each, lost count how many compilations and clips I've watched in between and I'm still in love with Bad Friends! I'm English so I don't get all the references but it doesn't matter because Bobby being just weird and Santino being one of the quickest and wittiest comics around the comedy keeps coming and coming! Bad Friends isn't just my favorite Podcast, it's my Favorite form of digital entertainment! I would rather watch an episode of BF than watch any series, watch any movie or anything else on a screen! Thankyou for creating this guys and I pray the show keeps going for many years to come!

Cringey and self adoring documentary.
13 January 2024
Now I understand that me being British maybe I just don't get the whole "listen to me talk about how great I am" culture in the USA!? But I found this to be a little too over cringey! Ok so I'm a fan of both Rock & Hart, I've seen both of them do stand up during their tours in England and I loved them both..... I'm not a "hater" and I really do think they're both deservedly two of the biggest comedians / comedy actors in the world right now!....... BUT.... This just isn't something I feel ever needed to be made! I enjoy Documentaries and having a reputable journalist create a Biography is often really enjoyable to watch / read if done the right way, you shouldn't however make a Documentary on yourselves which seems exactly what these guys did here. It's basically an hour of Chris and Kev talking about how great they both are, inserting snippets of friends talking about how great they both are and how they're both only getting more great every day! As an American I understand this might be your cup of tea! As a Brit myself it made me almost throw up in my mouth it's so self serving and ego driven! We get it guys you're both super successful!? But next time let the fans tell you how much they love you instead of you telling them how much they're supposed to love you!

Shane Gillis: Beautiful Dogs (2023 TV Special)
10/10
Netflix best stand up special in years!!
8 November 2023
To be honest I'd never even heard of Shane before a week ago, I saw his special pop up on Netflix and since I love Stand Up I watch every single special from any comedian I find some I love, some I cannot stomach and find I can watch a whole hour and not laugh even once..... safe to say Shane was the exact opposite! Absolutely Hilarious, couldn't stop laughing.... His style isn't exactly what I love in stand up.... He isn't aggressive, doesn't shout jokes to try and make them funnier (he doesn't need to!) He just sounds like a really friendly guy that's just having a chat with the audience and happens to be saying great and funny stuff! I've already watched his first special and cannot wait for more! The birth of a possible comedy Legend!?

The Out-Laws (2023)

Good Cast, unfunny irritating slapstick comedy!
27 July 2023
The overall plot had potential.... The casting was good too! The execution on the other hand was just dire! Yes it was very Adam Sandler-esqe.... But at least when you watch a Sandler film it's actually funny! This was just ridiculous slapstick..... it crossed the line of when slapstick stops being funny and just becomes irritating! I absolutely love silly humour and I love Adam Sandler movies, this was just exhausted cliched silliness. If they'd have just toned it down a bit and wrote some actual decent jokes it could have been so much better! Massive red mark on the writers and directors resume this one!

Good first 20mins and then falls off a cliff
14 June 2022
The rule is in a stand up set you start strong and finish strong and your weaker stuff goes in the middle, this for me started pretty good for about 20mins and then just slowly got weaker. I didn't think it was as poor as many of the reviews on here suggest, I think it's likely when people see Burr's name on something they set the bar very high before they pressed play. Worth watching if you have nothing better to do but definitely not worthy of having Bill Burr's name on there in my opinion.

Ricky Gervais: SuperNature (2022 TV Special)
10/10
Laugh out loud hysterical
26 May 2022
Ricky Gervais yet again showing he has absolutely no limitations to his talent when it comes to comedy. After creating The Office, Afterlife, Extras, Derek he really has no place being as good at stand up as he is... but however much I enjoyed Animals, Humanity etc... Supernature is his best work yet, just don't make the mistake I did and listen to it whilst driving as its impossible to concentrate when you're almost cracking a rib laughing. This guy yet again showing why he's such a national treasure and head and shoulders above everyone else in comedy writing right now.

The King has risen.

Down the middle, Okay show! Not amazing but worth a watch.
25 May 2022
Enjoyed Scorpian, had some really entertaining and funny moments... just don't watch if you have any love of or rudimentry knowlegde of the laws physics as it gets a bit silly at times trying to be too clever.

Don't expect any groundbreaking television but still worth watching.

The Blacklist (2013–2023)
4/10
Seasons 1-4 are great... it then becomes parody
25 May 2022
Raymond Reddington is one of the best characters ever written and perfectly portrayed by Spader where as Elizabeth Keen is equally as impressive in how utterly awful she is, I don't believe it has anything to do with Megan Boone and its simply down to poor writing.

The FBI is portrayed as so inept and useless it's become almost slapstick, not to mention how it seems the worlds most highly funded agency seemingly is working with almost no resources ever. Many of the characters are so clichéd it seems like a child could of created them for a school project.

But with all these faults if they'd have just not gone down the writing route of utterly ridiculous and comedically unrealistic it could almost be defined as science fiction.

The first 4 seasons were really enjoyable, it seems like The Blacklist was another show that has outstayed its welcome and milked for the ratings long after the ldeas had dried up.
