Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Expected it to be better...
I was really looking forward to watching this, having loved the original film. However, I left the cinema feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The main issues was that the actress couldn't pass as a 10 year old this time ( although she is a great actress). It was too unconvincing. I did enjoy the plot twist, although it was a little rushed and could've been further explored through flashbacks, in my opinion. If you aren't paying full attention to the film, you could quite easily not grasp the twist. Furthermore, I found it irritating that, yet again, the main male character in the film/father figure was portrayed as gullible and easily manipulated, as in the original film.
Put simply, the film is not in the same league as the original. It was okay, but not anything I would rave about or care to watch again.
Bom Dia, Verônica (2020)
Brilliant binge-worthy series 👏
I watched this over the past two days and I was engrossed in it. There were lots of twists and turns. Really good storyline.
This, in my opinion, was like a much better Silent Witness/Marcella. Brilliant scripting and acting.
The Holiday (2021)
Enjoyable with good twists
I was dubious about watching this, given the negative reviews it's had. However, I really enjoyed it. It kept me intrigued till the end and I thought the acting by Jill Halfpenny was really solid in her portrayal of the character. Definitely worth a watch.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Farcical
I enjoy a decent comedy/ dry humour. Comedy isn't normally my go-to genre but I gave it a chance because there have been comedies I've enjoyed and wanted to watch something different. The acting is good but this was just too much like a farce ( ridiculous and predictable).
The Midwich Cuckoos (2022)
Village of the damned
I am on episode 4 and I'm hooked. I think it's something very different to other series available right now. The acting is good, especially the children, who are creepy. It reminds me a bit of Village of the damned. I'm intrigued to see how the story ends...
