Very good contemporary art scene flick
19 November 2009
Saw untitled @ the Heidelberg-Mannheim Film Festival, where it won the Juror Award.

having watched "Die Millionenblase(German)", "The Bubble" (2008, 90min) by Lewis Ben only two words come to my mind: Damien Hirst...

Great movie, great cast, great script & loved the editing.

Adam Goldberg shines in his role portraying a musician torn between art & commerce...

Loved the very special sense of humor as well as the topic that today is even more current than a few years back.

Would have liked a character showing/portraying the infamous art dealer scene...

Felon (2008)

Great movie. Great acting.
1 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Even though the movie started out with a weak story (first time offender gets thrown into hard core prison) i was amazed how good Steven Dorff acted. But i liked Val Kilmer playing a much more intense role as the semi-psycho lifer that keeps to himself and opens up to the "fish". I had a hard time recognizing him, i first thought it was Jeff Bridges.... (LOL)

I found the mother very convincing trying to change her daughter's mind into leaving her husband since he "let her down" and she needs to "move on".

I really liked Harold Perrineau as the sadistic prison guard corrupted by power. He played much better than in Lost. Actually i was amazed by the portrayal of his role!

Overall this movie lives by the acting, not the story, since this topic has been touched many times and nothing has been done to correct the inhumane treatment in prisons not just in the US...

Anyways, i voted 10 for this movie since it left me with a deep feeling of sadness knowing that this might happen to anyone who is in the wrong place at the wrong time....

And to the commenters that say this movie's story is that the crime of killing a burglar should go unpunished, i have to say that that's not true. The message is that there must be a punishment that is right for the crime. No one says that killing a burglar should go unpunished, but to sentence a father and husband with no priors to hardcore prison is not right! Probation, or in this case a low security prison for the duration of the sentence would be in order, but not a hardcore prison like the one portrayed in this movie... those should be reserved to hopeless cases that will never again will see freedom.

not worth watching!
8 March 2008
i like olyphant... but that's about it what made it worth watching for me...

i'm very disappointed...

direction was not very good. costumes were not convincing. script was here and there, but everything doesn't really make sense. the fight scenes were poorly executed.

some of the cast was good, but knepper for example didn't fit the role he played.

overall i felt like a b or c movie with a partial a or b movie cast... the director didn't do a good job... some scenes felt like the were poorly rehearsed...

i'm just glad i didn't have to pay to see this movie!

awesome new duchovny series
22 July 2007
i really loved the pilot!

duchovny comes across very authentic as a writer in his midlife crisis. divorced and unhappy the daughter suffers the most under the separation. for my part it wonder if the classification as a comedy is right... it's very sarcastic... there's some scenes that are funny but most of the time it's more a drama than comedy...

the series has a lot of potential and it's not a 100% clear where it might take us if it gets picked up. let's hope showtime has the guts to give duchovny a chance to show of his talent. for my part i loved his performance and that it would be good thing to have him back on a TV series.
