I saw this film the other day on UK TV and, for some reason, never got around to buying the DVD. This was a film that, at the back of my mind, I always wanted to watch. It is based on real life and what actually happened during WW2 and, I am sure, to a large extent is accurate.
However, and to a certain extent, the timing is not quite accurate because The Pianist actually purloined an overcoat from a German Officer much earlier than was portrayed in the film. He must have done, otherwise he would have lost the will to live.
An extremely good film and I cannot imagine how anybody could better this portrayal of the Jewish plight during WW2.
