female lead character is...questionable

Well, this movie started quite good. The winter landscapes created a nice atmosphere. The backstory of the male lead character, Jake, was worked out pretty fine. Some drama, but long ago, nothing over the top. Quite believable. The background story of the female lead, Rachel, felt kinda forced at times. Wasn't so well balanced to be honest. But it was okay, as the chemistry between both was quite good. There were some really likeable side characters, like his former neighbor Ellie. Could have made for a simple, but charming christmas love story...But the messed it up, For the cause of more forced drama. Which only led to very questionable behaviour of the the female lead (Rachel). She was engaged to someone else, who was faithfully in love with her. And she desperatly wanted to find her real mom. Both facts didn't kept her from cheating on her fiance. Keeping secret, that Jake joined her on her journey. Treating Jake like a piece of trash, by dumping him, letting him beg in front of her window like a dirty stray dog, just to tell him that she doesn't love him. And after all that it's enough to show up alone at his Parents house and this is the "happy end"? I don't think so. His character deserved much better. Oh and by the way: He visited Rachels mom, as soon as her identity was revealed. Rachel didn't. Although this was her characters main motive, for pretty much the whole movie!? Are we supposed to think that a women this erratic and immature is a good catch? Because honestly she aint good relationship material. Morally very questionable. Especially for a christmas movie. Nope, not recommended..

Don't compare!!

I went into this movie with little to no expectations. Mainly because I really adore the original czech movie and because of the negative reviews. But I gotta say, they are not justified! Due to the fact that this movie takes place in norway, I decided to not compare it to the czech film. And then it works really well for itself! At least to me, the magic was all there! The chemistry between the actors, the fantastic norway landscapes and cozy atmosphere. As mentioned in some other reviews, the two main characters are more eye to eye, equally strong AND vulnerable. Does it use the same story as the czech Film? Yes kinda. But if you manage to see it as movie on its own, you'll get a wonderful,charming and heartfelt fairytale for the young....and young at heart.

The Imperfects (2022)

It's okay

We did not went into this with high expectations. We wanted some easy, mindless fun and monster action. And for the first half of the season, it totally delivered. Unfortunately the second half drags. The over all storyline seems lost and the characters either revolve round themselves or change their direction every 5 Minutes.

Is it a must-watch? Maybe not. But there definitely is some good potential.

The characters are quite likeable, the action is nice, some lighthearted humor. The CGI is not stellar, but good enough. I would watch a second season. But please work on the writing/storytelling!
