The Casagrandes Movie (2024)
A Boring, Badly Animated Trash Heap (This isn't an April Fools Joke by the way)
I used to be a fan of the Loud House and heard it got a spinoff, I found it boring, and now it has a movie, and I think it is atrocious.
First of all, it's just a ripoff of the first movie, The Loud House Movie, since this is technically a sequel, the first movie's plot is: The Loud Family go on vacation to Scotland, and the plot of this movie is: The Casagrandes go on vacation to Mexico. Those plots are eerily similar.
Secondly, this movie looks really bad, most people praise the movie for its shading when it can't even match the lighting with the location of the sun, also the animation is tweened and it looks terrible, also also, there seems to be a sharpness effect which may seem like a good thing, but it just makes the movie look even uglier.
And lastly, the film is just boring, I watched this with my brother and he fell asleep, I wanted to do the same, I think the problem is due to the story of the demigod (I forgot her name) being so dragged out and generic at the same time.
Overall, this movie is a boring and badly animated mess, I'd give this a 1/10.
(By the way, this isn't an April Fool's joke, I genuinely think the movie is garbage)
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017)
One of the best movies I've seen
This movie and the book series it was based on inspired me to make comics and draw my own cartoons, and I still draw the cartoons I made because of this movie to this day, but instead of talking about how this movie impacted me, you may be wondering, "Is this even a good movie?"
This movie is great, sure it's filled with fart jokes, toilet humour and other immature jokes, but that's what gives this movie it's charm, it's not supposed to be a mature, serious drama with incredibly sappy dialogue about "the true meaning of friendship" or something, it's about two 4th graders hypnotising their principal, turning him into a half naked "superhero" running around trying to defeat a giant toilet made by their evil new school teacher who's a scientist with the name "Professor Poopypants."
That doesn't seem like a mature, serious drama with incredibly sappy dialogue about "the true meaning of friendship" or something, because it doesn't need to be.
Other strengths this movie has are the animation and message, first of all, the movie is beautifully animated, the lighting, colours and... well animation look really nice. The school has a cold and blue tone, while the happier places have a warmer nostalgic tone. Also the animation is very fluid and snappy and the lighting avoids just using black to shade everything, so it also avoids looking ugly, cheap and unappealing.
The story is very good too, George and Harold (who are both best friends) are forced to move classes by their grump principal, Mr. Krupp, and to avoid this, George (the kid on the right with the tie and the flat top) gets an old "hipno-ring" to hipnotise the principal, accidentally turning him into their comic book creation, Captain Underpants.
I don't want to spoil the other plot points that happen, but doesn't what I've mentioned so far sound entertaining?
In conclusion, The Captain Underpants Movie is very good and underrated movie that I'd recommend you watching.
