Baby Reindeer (2024)
Wow! A must watch!
Ok so I went into this not knowing what it was about. I have just finished episode 5 and wow! Shocking and heartbreaking is all I can say. He is incredibly brave telling his story and letting people know what happened. Showing this darker side of an industry is brave and eye opening. I like the fact that he has shown humanity towards his stalker but also how terrifying this situation can be. So far I have just finished episode 5 and feel I need to carry on watching tomorrow as I think its quite intense to binge watch. I really hope he writes more for TV as this is brilliant. Well done to everyone involved as the acting and whole production is brilliant.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Don't listen to the negative reviews!
Ok so I read quite a few reviews before I watched the film so didn't quite know what to expect.
Well!!! Now I have watched it I really can't understand why people are saying they 'dont get it'. There are several scenes (one particularly) where things are literally spelt out for you! I actually found it quite ironic that some people didn't get it! The film has a message about the world we live in and even though it's not your fast paced action type film it still delivers a punch.
Acting was brilliant and you can see that the director is trying to covey a message that is definitely pertinent to today's world.
Obsession (2023)
What a crock of.......
Seriously? What a crock of ....
I actually got to the end which I'm thinking I deserve a medal or at least a well done sticker for.
So where did it all go wrong? From the casting, acting, script writing and music nothing gelled together or made much sense.
I didn't get the reason why she liked him or vice versa unless they both like 10 second or less sex? Also I'm never using pillow spray again!
The music was one tone and I'm sure they were playing the same piece again and again and again with only the crescendo happening at 'certain moments'.
I would describe this series as a poor attempt at a 50 shades type thing (which really does that even need repeating?) Also what was with the ending? Eh?!?
The one star goes to the actress who played the best friend. Apart from that please save yourself the bother and go watch paint dry. I promise it will be more thrilling!
Come Play (2020)
Watch it!
I saw the score on here and my rule of thumb is generally horror films always score low so I thought I might as well give it a try. So glad I did! This film is a horror but I also liked the way the film tackled autism. I think several messages can be taken from this film from how people view people with autism to how electronic devises are not always what they are bigged up to be for kids. How the monster can lie with the internet.
No going to give anything away but please watch this film and make your own judgement. You will be surprised how this film touches many parts of society today!!!!!
Barbarian (2022)
Haters just don't get the meaning
I felt I had to write a review when I read some of the negative ones. As suggested I didn't watch the trailer and went in blind. I'm so glad I did. This is fundamentally a film about people and a reflection of society today. It shows the issues women face and cleverly keeps you wondering about if you can really judge a book by its cover. I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil anything but all I can say is sit in the dark, watch this and enjoy!
Side note: this isn't a film that will win Oscar's however it is one that will leave you thinking at the end. It took me a few minutes to digest it all!
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
What the?
Ok I'm still trying to work out if it's the antibiotics and night nurse I'm tripping with or if that film is just insane. Egotistical rubbish that is trying to be 'different'. Much better films out there that do it so much more creatively. Didn't realise until I read a review after and it's by the same people who did the Swiss Army Man film with Daniel Radcliffe. That was tripe too.
1 star for costume and make up
1 star for the chap from the Goonies
Watch it but be warned you will not get 2 plus hours back of your life.
Monstrous (2022)
Give it a go
I don't know why such the bad reviews. It's a perfectly decent film and I have definitely seen worse. It's not a horror and yes the story has been told before. If you have a spare Sunday afternoon it's worth a watch. I gave it 10 as I think it's been definitely given too lower rating by some.
