A Christmas Crush (2019)
Pretty good cast, pretty lame movie
I saw this movie on a GAC July Christmas showing. It started slow, but I wanted to give it a chance. I have seen Erica Deutschman before and enjoyed watching her, and I thought Cindy Sampson as Addie was really cute so I had hope.
The interaction between Addie and Sam was fun, and I thought Cindy played well the nervous gushing her character had around Sam, which made it pretty believable. In fact the scene where Addie and Sam are baking cookies and Sam decorates the one for Addie is one of my favorite scenes. Their chemistry really shows through at that point. It's when Pete shows up that the movie goes off the rails.
I felt for Addie when she seems genuinely upset about feeling like she put Pete and his fiance in a no win situation, and the speech she gave at Donner event was really touching.
It was scenes like those that BARELY pushed me to give this a 5. Less Pete and more Sam and Addie would have made this movie much more fun to watch. I will search out other work from Cindy Sampson because in a better vehicle, I think she would shine through much brighter.
Marry Me (2022)
My family actually enjoyed this!
Wow, quite a large spectrum of reviews for this movie. This is not Schindler's List, or The Color Purple. I think we can all agree on that. However, I thought Jennifer Lopez did a great job in the movie. She seemed truly heartbroken and played her role well. (She played a pop star...I know, quite a stretch, but she did it well!)
The actress that played Owen's daughter was enjoyable, and full disclosure...I Love Me some Sarah Silverman...
The few issues I did have were things like the ex-wife knew what had happened, but the one time you see her in the movie she says absolutely nothing about it.
When Jennifer makes the comment "if it's on the internet, it must be true" seemed like a strange comment to make. I assume she was saying it jokingly, but not a great line.
