Fallout (2024)
A mixed bag for me
As my title suggest this is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I've played fallout for God knows how many times and absolutely love that game to pieces since then I've played new Vegas and fallout three but the less we say about 76 The better for me, the fallout TV such a show was a great opportunity And a lot of fun. It's best enjoyed if you turn off your brain and just have a good time with it and don't think too hard about the story. Unfortunately, as soon as you do think about the story you realise all the writing mistakes and plot errors and plot holes for that matter that start creep in. The show runners did a fantastic job bringing the wasteland to life and there are so many odds to the games that it's unreal. Unfortunately the end of the series just feels quite rushed and like I say the plot and the character motivations start to fall apart as soon as as you really think about them. The other thing that also irritates me is the number of conveniences within the story. Things just seem to happen at the right point and had it been for a few seconds either way these things wouldn't have happened. I appreciate that modern TV but it is annoying. This was a good show but it could've been a great show , a little bit like Westworld in that way series 2 is guaranteed but I have a feeling they will quickly lose his energy after series 2 in the same way that Westworld did.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Generic Fantasy with unlikable characters. Im Done.
Where to begin with this one. I love the original Lord of the rings trilogy, but i don't consider myself to be a super fan who knows all the lore. So i went into this looking for a great fantasy story, with interesting characters, beautiful landscapes and an adventure to get hooked into. What i actually got was a confused, generic looking, slow paced mess of a story. I hate to say it, but the critics are right about this one, this show has a Galadriel problem. The character is just so unlikable, and for someone who existing for thousands of years, i can't figure of why she just goes around acting like an arrogant child demanding people like and follow her. Other characters just come off as shallow, obvious or fairly uninteresting. I have given this show 4 episodes of my time, but i can't be bothered to waste anymore time. I do appreciate that shows can need time to break in, but when you think about classic TV like Game of Thrones, Black Sails, 24, Braking Bad etc we didn't need 4 episodes, we were hooked after just one. I have no doubt they will make a second series due to the investment, however for this show to survive they need to make some drastic changes in series 2.
Andor (2022)
Slow Wars - An Andor Story
Andor is literally the most boring Start Wars i have ever watched, and its such a shame as i was looking forward to it. Ive just sat here and watch 3 episodes, and i honestly can't see me bothering with any more. To say the pacing is slow, is understatement. The main character goes to a place, has a conversation, then goes to another place and does the same. Very little else happens of any significance until the last 10 minuets of episode 3. With some decent editing, you could easily combine 120 minuets (3 episodes) into 30 minuets of story. In edition to the slow pace, the acting and casting choices seem questionable at best. Some actors are wooden, where as others are hamming it up to the max. The only real positive i can add us that the CGI and sets look good, but thats about it. Such a shame to start on such a low for what could have been a promising series,
