The Brothers Sun (2024)
So fun to watch!
Such a great entertainment! The characters are likeable, the pace is fast. I agree with other reviewers that it is slightly predictable but this is also comforting. I was really rooting for both brothers and their mom and loved for the story developed and the ending the first season got (and I hope we will see at least one season more, please!!!). I am a bit hesitant though about the series romanticising crime and showing killers and drug dealers as nice people with principles as if justifying their behaviour so in this sense maybe another ending would be better but you get what you get within action comedy genre. Also, absolutely great cast and I hope we will see more of them in other Netflix series and beyond!
Murder Mystery 2 (2023)
Feel good comedy
I am quite surprised by the negative reviews, did people expect Oscar movie? I would say that after the first part this movie delivers what it promised: it's funny, quirky, the main characters are not too smart but loving and you root for them. It's not a superb detective story but it's a very entertaining comedy, almost now toilett jokes the American movies are so famous about and if offers some fun action and unexpected plot twists until the very end. In fact, I liked the second part even more than the first one! I think Sandler-Aniston duo works really well and I am looking forward to seeing the third part if they decide to go for it!
Glass Onion (2022)
Entertaining and funny with great cast
I loved it even more than the first part.
Daniel Craig playing a famous detective is even more appealing to me than Daniel Craig as 007 getting sentimental and slightly feminist.
Edward Norton as a crazy genius billionaire and a group of his friends are a great diverse crowd you want to see in whoddunnit movies.
The plot twists are nice and unpredictable (at least I did not see certain things coming) and all the actors are doing quite good job.
I believe it is a perfect entertaining movie and I will gladly watch it again to enjoy now more the beautiful picture rather than focusing on the dialogues and trying to figure out who is behind the murder.
Highly recommended!
A Storm for Christmas (2022)
A Christmas movie I've been waiting for since Home for Christmas
I registered on IMDB just to write this review because I really loved this series and I think after Home for Christmas (both seasons) and A Storm for Christmas, I can say I admire how Norwegians can create really diverse, feel-good, not too banal kind of movies - much better than all that sweet and super predictable stuff we are ending up annually from Hallmark and American Netflix.
So, it's Christmas Eve and you get bunch of characters of different nationalities, ethncities, age, sexuality, class and health condition stuck in Oslo airport. Due to a heavy snowstorm noone is going anywhere, so many conversations will start, some serious fights will take place and some romantic stories will begin (some of them quite unexpectedly!)
I liked all of the characters, even those who were first very unlikable, and I was rooting for all of them to get their happy-ending. Whether it happens to all of them or not - you have to watch till the end and prepare some napkins if you tend to get sentimental like myself. I had some tears several times through the episodes.
Wonderful series to binge watch over the weekend alone, with your significant one or with friends. Totally recommended!
