Sex/Life (2021)
Funny and hot
First of all this is hilarious. The show is shot beautifully and I love the voice over narration. I'm definitely going to check the book out after. The main character is played to perfection, and so is the husband who plays his role extremely well. Some people are calling this soft porn, but I don't think anyones seen porn with a story line this engaging lol. I mean, obviously the show is partly about sex as that's what she is really missing from her marriage but it's a far cry from soft porn. The actual heart of the story is getting into a loving relationship and it becoming dry due to... well, life and now she wants to embrace some fun once again, so if you like that concept then you'll like this.
The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)
NETFLIX STOP THIS!
Okay, so I believe Netflix believes that the programme will be successful merely by having a diverse cast and including mystical elements. Right? WRONG! Please, please, please, can we return to good story telling as the MAIN priority, regardless of where the cast is from.
What makes this the "Witcher"? Let the Witcher be the Witcher, which is, incidentally, doing fantastic on its own as it has been for many years now. I really don't understand. Why then alter it? Why not use a different name for this? So many questions. The casting is appalling. The dialogue is the same. Netflix doesn't realise that pairing these hot trash fast food shows with games like The Witcher just serves to hurt the franchise and achieves nothing for everyone involved, especially the performers. Michelle was great in the movie Everything, Everywhere, but how does she go from that to this?
The reason there have been so many remakes of popular shows in recent years-many of which, like this one, are incredibly underwhelming and perplexing for all the fans of the original series-is because this is not the golden age of television; rather, it is the age of television in which "we have the rights to do whatever we like".
As a lover of the Witcher I wasn't able to finish a simple episode of whatever this is, but then again, there's only four episodes anyway... literally what is the point? I'm guessing it was some sort of test or something, well you have your answer: we DO NOT want to see more of this. Thank you very much.
First Kill (2022)
Ultimately generic
Diversity cannot make up for badly written characters, badly written dialogue, a plot that falls flat, and shoddy CGI.
The poor music direction indicates the producers' lack of understanding of what their target audience wants or how to use and place music to assist create an environment. Nobody who worked on this production, in my opinion, had a clear understanding of the show's topics or overall aim.
And I'm not sure which is worse: the dreadful acting or the dreadful script. I admire the efforts they made to include LGBTQ and multicultural elements. But it ought to have been more crucial to cast better performers and write a better script. After the first few episodes, I was completely and utterly bored... think I'm just going to restart TVD.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022)
Very disappointing
Nothing like the original... bad writing and disappointing casting in my opinion. The girls do not have the same natural chemistry the original PLL did. Everything about the show feels generic and blend.
I mean really? The antagonist is a blonde called Karen? Let's be a LITTLE original here please guys.
Plus with all these movie references you'd think they are film critics instead of normal teens. The acting is really dry for the most part and the dialogue is just as bad. And why is this show 55 minutes long? Keep it to 40 and you can take out all the unnecessary dialogue. And the annoying flash backs? Oh god... but honestly, change the name of the show because it had nothing to do with the original. In conclusion I'll be re watching the original PLL.
Vampire Academy (2022)
Just no...
Just finished episode 5 and I can't go on. The movie is one thousand times better than this (and I didn't even like the movie that much). Please DO NOT take amazing books and turn them into hot trash. I can't imagine how Richelle Mead must feel watching her work be misrepresented.
First of all, Rose and her mothers accent's are really bad, like distractingly bad. And who is casting these things anyway? Is it seriously that hard to get a character that actually represents Rose from the book? Makes no sense... this series has stripped the books of what made them so great to read in the first place. You hear about how much Hollywood vet a show or movie before it's produced, but that can't possibly be true or this show would not have gotten made. It will never make sense to me why you would take a great book and then change or even discard altogether important parts of the character Rose that made us fall in love with her in the first place.
The producers are clearly not fans of the book as they wouldn't of changed so much unnecessarily. So unfortunately anyone who loves the book and wants to watch this to see the book played out, don't bother. Just re read the books and use your imagination. I really hope this show gets cancelled, because this is honestly B. S.
