Extinction (2018)
The youngest Child absolutely ruined it
Interesting premise. Was it the directors/producers child or child of one of the stars? The youngest screamed all the way through, made so many bad decisions- I would have left her there to collect the Darwin Award.
Clearly a film done on a budget - so fair play to the director - lovely plot twist ! 2nd time watching and completely forgot about all the screaming. She literally doesn't do anything she's told and is the main reason they have such a hard time.
My advice to you would be to watch the first 20 mins and then fast forward to 45 mins.
Other than that a solid performance from Michael Peña and Lizzy Caplin.
Ben young did a good job overall. Sack whoever did casting and the final edits.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)
What a treat!
I always think that to enjoy a film fully you have to have fleshed out and well rounded characters that you can get behind emotionally to experience their journey through their eyes.
Something a fantastic as such an already brilliant story needs you to buy into the premise before the ship has left the harbour so to speak.
It is an Incredibly well crafted, absolutely beautifully shot film married with a well cast ensemble. No one carries the film, the visual effects compliment the physical effects but it doesn't over power the film. Some lovely quiet thoughtful scenes contrast with some incredibly high octane action an absolute treat for the senses and the best in the series so far in my opinion.
Annihilation (2018)
Mediocre, Aimless and a wasted opportunity.
So, so many plot holes, starting with the military protocol that for an army based team they were awful ,quite a few moments you had to wonder if the decisions made by the characters lacked any form of common sense for so called 'intelligence specialists in their field' it's like they had found a new CGI engine and loosely based a drug fuelled dream for a plot. The rushed conclusion was inconclusive. I just feel sorry that Portman signed up to it. A wasted opportunity that could have been a slam dunk but instead seemed aimless and drifting. Plus points it was pretty in places and Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac were on form as per for delivery of script.
