Community (2009)
Funniest comedy since Friends and Frasier!
After Friends and Frasier called it a day, no other sitcoms made me laugh at all, if much. Perhaps Family Guy but, it is a cartoon. The reason why I tried Community was because I saw Ken Jeong's face and thought, hey the guy in Hangover? This sitcom shouldn't be THAT dry. So I watched it... and got hooked!! I am totally addicted to it! Each and every character is a comedy by themselves! Jeff, The Dean, Chang, Britta, Abed and Troy... all of them are marvelously hilarious! I salute the scriptwriter and the story-writer cos each episode is a sides cracking adventure filled with laughter! And the funny conversations and the unexpected twists and turns just made you laugh until beer spurts out of your nose! Wonderful! Please, keep this gem going, for at least 10 seasons. This world with depressing news everyday needs a short 22 minutes of pure hilarity to release our stress, yup and this is it, this is our laughter spa. Please keep Community going!!! Ten thumbs up!
Merlin (2008)
Top notch acting! 10 stars, two thumbs up and encore!
I watched this series initially with skepticism and in fact, just to pass my time. Season 1's story lines may not be that exciting but after a few episodes, you kinda wanna watch more even though you don't quite know why. But Season 2 was waaaaay better.(Did they change writers?) It helps that the actors and actresses in this series are quite hot, and actually possesses not good, but great acting skills. These bunch of young and new actors/actresses are unlike those that looks good but simply cannot act to save their life; and can actually make you cringe and is absolutely too painful to watch. In season 1, you would hate Arthur immediately, as he is a total spoilt brat; and not to forget arrogant and annoying. But in Season 2, his character develops more into a fair and just king(OK, still prince) with guts that other kings would love to hate. So you would actually grow to love him in season 2! Not forgetting that he is soooo hot, he should be nominated for the Sexiest Man Alive 2010. I like the kissing scenes of him and Guinevere and also the episode where he risks his life to save her but yet was heartbroken when he finds out that her heart was with Lancelot. I don't like watching romantic movies or reading romance novels as I cannot stand the predictable story lines or the bad acting skills from these genre. But amazingly, Arthur and Guinevere does it here so well that their romance is actually making me look forward to watching the series. Merlin, as the lead, is a hoot! His back and forth with Arthur adds much comedic relief. His acting skills portrayed the boy wizard Merlin perfectly, and yet with a twist of fun and adventure. Lady Guinevere(or servant girl Guinevere) has good chemistry with Arthur and she is someone that helped added another star to this series. Morgana is also a valuable addition, she does her role very well. And at least in season 2 we get to see her in new wardrobe instead of the same gowns she keeps wearing in season 1. King Uthur is someone that seems totally devoid of analytical skills and sound reasoning, and Arthur is always the one who seems to risk his life and status as prince and saves the day in each episode. I don't know if all the main cast of this series are new actors/actresses(Arthur, Merlin, Morgana, Guinevere) but all I can say is, their acting are all top notch. I will definitely vote for this series to continue, hopefully until Season 10. Go watch it, it will grow on you and you will start to love the characters.
12 Rounds (2009)
Drifted elsewhere
This movie is totally un-engaging. My mind drifted elsewhere many times during the entire show. Please don't waste your time unless you are a die-hard John Cena fan.
I was going to fall asleep by the end of the movie. And many people were right about the rip-off. It was like watching a copy & paste movie from Speed, Die Hard & something else.
What a waste of cast as they were all good actors/actress but the plot is predictable, trying so hard to be exciting but it isn't. Perhaps they should have cut from 12 agonizing rounds to 3 rounds. Honestly at the prices of movie tickets nowadays, this is not worth it. If you really must watch this, wait for the DVD & even so, rent the DVD. You have been warned.
When I read the outline I was anticipating something gripping & totally keeping you at the edge of the seat, holding your breath. But it ended up being the complete opposite.
Little Miss Sunshine (2006)
Watch the movie to rate it yourself :)
To be honest, when this movie came out in 2006, I did everything I could to avoid watching it, either later on HBO, DVD or the movies. Please I gotta go do something else. Then I was really bored and awake when the regular TV in my hometown showed it so I watched it to pass time. Either I hate a movie or love a movie, usually I am such a critic most movies pass me by being picked down to the bone. But this one actually rendered me to login and write a comment! I seriously did not expect this change of opinion from such a hard nut like me. Kudos to Greg and Paul and Toni and Steve Carrell. Love the part when Paul apologized, made my heart all warm knowing he is not just a 16 year old jerk, but a 16 year old with a heart. I began the story hating all the characters except Olive. But as the story progresses, I began to love all of them! I hated Paul for being a jerk but then changed when he apologized for his screaming fit at his color blindness discovery. Then I hated Greg for his strange uptight ways, then I began to love him and Paul altogether at the same time when Paul ran in to stop Olive from continuing the talent segment. They both wanted to protect Olive. The highlight was when Greg was asked to stop his daughter from continuing the dance and that part actually made me laugh out loud! He unexpectedly joined in to dance! And then Steve and Paul ran up and I clapped!! It was awesome! Their love for Olive was portrayed in the best way a family can. Especically an on screen portrayal. This was unusual, without the regular "fight-cry-hug-happy ever after" family endings. And it took me by surprise that Olive did a strip dance. LOL (lighten up it wasn't child porn, it was still done with innocence and all good clean essence.) I know my comments are jumbled and not in proper chronological order, but I love the part when Olive dedicated the dance to her granddad, and answered, "he is in the back of our trunk" I gotta high five the tattoo guy who stood up and shouted his "yeah!" approval. Overall, yes, deserve a 10 and all cast should be nominated for Oscars for this movie. (Or were they already? Sorry I don't follow these stuff) If the cast were all reading this, bravo, encore, and standing ovation, all of you are quality stars. Indeed. Great movie!!!
