Gundala (2019)
Incredible movie in the first half, pettiest in the second
Is probably by far one of the most impressive films ive seen during the first half or even the first 2/3 of the movie, but the end is honestly bad, like really bad.
I was surprised by the quality and the themes the first half touched, how The hero starts but the end feels really rushed and pathetic.
Ive seen many reviews saying the movie makes no sense, but is not that bad, the movie makes sense just the end is bad, sadly as we all should know, is 100 times more important a good end of a bad movie than a bad movie with excelent end, this one is the proof of that as most people apparently remember it really angrily, is not a bad movie... is just that.
Is sad that this was the end of this movie.
Waktu Maghrib (2023)
Great photography, promising director bad script.
The movie is decent at best, the script is about indonesian folk/religion horror, but keeps feeling like horror for teens and brave children, not much more, i cant stop feeling like there is much more potential in this movie, the actors are not bad, specially the children are really good for their age, the direction is impressive, still noticing the lack of experience but is a really promising director with lots of good decitions in the composition; the photograohy is by far the best part, the movie is gorgeous and really nice to see, specially for people from occidental countries were the places and backgrounds look so distant, i enjoyed the movie but as i said, i think it needs more.
Take Me to the River (2015)
A strong retoric of a poorly written poem
I think this is another of those movies created with a lot of love in the script but poorly ejecuted, the acting is not bad at all, even in the children actors, yet, the phasing, camera and poorly dialogue writting are awful.
Despite of all that i absolutely recommend this movie to those poets out there who enjoy analysing the meaning of a movie on the subtext and metaphors of it, because the retoric of this movie is strong and powerful work, clear with it's theme, an strong retoric piece of art in a poorly written poem.
For most people this is an absolute no, maybe for some may help analysing what to improve, but, again, is not a recomendation for 90% of watchers.
Ai Fai.. Thank You Love You (2014)
the apex of toxic masculinity in a film that normalize it
A girl help her friend on breaking with her boyfriend with her. He, not just explode making an act of vandalism, but also forces her on teaching him english threatening her on raping if not, then over reacts hitting a kid in public and breaking his phone defending the main character.
The reason that the friend the main male character had a realtionship in first place was only sex saying from the begining they both couldnt actually talk because of different languages, so, yes, the only reason the male characer "love" her is because sex, but the movie act like is ok, actually all i've said "is okay, because he is handsome"
i'm not usually the kind of person that complains on these stuff in a movie, but this was WAY too much, what i've told is only like 30 minutes of the movie, is the most toxic movie i've seen in a long while and somehow that guy has a happy ending instead of ending in jail. (and i even had to check the laws of thailand, and yes, he should have been sent to jail for the stuff on this movie)
