Beyond Briliant! Can't believe some the early reviewers
27 June 2020
This is cerebral storytelling at its finest. The nuances between the two worlds, the similarities, the symbolism, it's beyond brilliance. Those complaining that this episode "doesn't add anything new" or doesn't move the story forward, aren't simply watching closely, maybe they're the ones who just caught the Dark wave without knowing about the break.

A Thousand Words (I) (2012)
7/10
Stay away from it if you don't like Eddie Murphy
9 March 2012
Snapshot: Eddie Murphy delivers and tries to make us laugh in his usual ways

What's Good: Eddie Murphy and Clark Duke have acted very well. The story is unique and is mostly engaging. It also tries to deliver a simple moral message.

What's not so Good: Some might find the running gags to be the "same old thing". There are elements of the story that defy general logic, and you'll have to keep your head aside. Some might also complaint the "moral message" is an overkill

Conclusion: It did make me laugh hard on more than a few occasions. If you try to ignore some moments of slapstick and stop thinking how much you hate Eddie Murphy, you might enjoy this one.

My rating: 3/4, for the general audience: 7/10.

It made me laugh......... Again!
19 June 2011
Snapshot: It uses the same formula but still generates more than a few laughs.

What's Great: It's funny, there's some decent acting, the story is predictable but fast paced and keeps you engaged.

What's Not So Great: Most people are complaining about how similar Hangover II and I are, it's pretty predictable and it's gross out humor (pretty gross at times :) )

Summary: Go in expecting a movie that is funny, and not something totally fresh like the first one and you might actually enjoy the movie a lot.

Inception (2010)
10/10
Mind bending, nerve-wrecking and gut-wrenching
16 July 2010
Snapshot: "Inception" has an incredible story that has been told very well. The plot is very complex and anyone who claims to have fully understood the movie in one time is simply lying or is probably from Pluto. Inception will give you everything you can think of including sic-fi, action, thriller, some chemistry and the occasional laugh.

Highlights of Plot: What most people know is that movie is about entering another persons dream and stealing ideas, but the way they've executed this concept is simply phenomenal. It will take a while before you start to figure out what exactly is going on in the movie, but once you understand the plot, you will get glued. There are a few minor issues with the plot, but you will probably not notice them while watching the movie. The movie has a good pace and some really good action scenes.

What's good: The acting is really good, the entire cast does justice to their roles. The action scenes are phenomenal. The screenplay is mind bending and the story is something that most people wouldn't have anticipated, very different. Of course the direction is top notch.

What's bad: It takes a while before the movie gains momentum. It's a real head- scratcher and it will make you think, so some people might not like that.

Who should watch it: Any Christopher Nolan fan. Anyone who wants a mind bending story with great suspense and action.

Who should avoid it: Anyone who wants a simple plot and expects a watch-enjoy-forget type movie. Anyone who does not tolerate minor plot holes.

Summary: I would rate this as one of my favorite movies, it's a real masterpiece and I would surely recommend everyone to watch it! In fact I will watch this again very soon!

Crazy Heart (2009)
8/10
Jeff Bridges steals the show!!!
21 December 2009
Snapshot: Brilliant acting by Jeff Bridges and some solid performances by others hold up a movie that has an incoherent, low intensity albeit realistic story. The score of the movie (which is mostly country music) is also pretty good.

Highlights from the plot: "Crazy Heart" is not your average motivational movie with strong dialogue and high intensity drama. It follows a sober and a rather unusual romantic story. The story is loosely knit by a few incidents that follow the life of a very talented country musician who is also a raging alcoholic and a chain smoker. On one hand the lack of grandiose drama makes the story more plausible and real but at the same time some may feel that its devoid of depth or intensity.

What's Good: Witty humor (its pretty funny), The acting is top notch especially Jeff Bridges, The score is good (especially if you like country music), The treatment given to the story is fresh in some ways

What's Bad: The story does not SEEM to go in any particular direction. The pace is also a tad slow. The chemistry between Jeff & Maggie is kinda offbeat

Who should watch it: People who really appreciate character development and who expect multi- dimensional characters etc. (Jeff Bridges character might be a treat for such folks), folks who expect a good score

Who should avoid it: Anyone who seeks out some high tension drama, powerful dialogue and a fast paced story should stay away from this one.

Avatar (2009)
10/10
Stunning visuals and an "OK" story!
19 December 2009
Snapshot: Avatar is a "visually stunning" movie that captures your imagination with a pretty ordinary story that SOME might find trite

Why I LOVED IT?

When people were first informed about Avatar NO ONE spoke about "A Great Story" or "Wonderful and complex Characters". Avatar was supposed to be a treat for the eye, a very imaginative and immersive world. Avatar exactly does that. I LOVED it because it delivers what it promised to!

Why is it "Ground Breaking" and "Stunning"?

Avatar totally blew me away in the visuals department. Now I know some people are saying that there are many movies that look more "REAL" and have better quality of animation than Avatar e.g. Final Fantasy, but I guess these people are missing the point. Avatar is actually about NOT looking real, it is about showing something that we have never seen or have never imagined (exotic creatures and floating mountains!!!). It is also about meticulous attention to details that we may actually never notice especially when we see the movie for the first time. So ultimately using fine details and imagination of some very creative artists a stunning and immersive world called "Pandora" has been created.

What's NOT good?

Avatar does not try to do anything new in the story line department. It's got a couple cheesy dialogues and just a touch predictable. It is the same old story told in a new way. But then how many movies that are made are really original today?

From my perspective I even LIKED the story but some people with different taste, perspective and expectations might complaint!

Who should watch it?

I suggest EVERYONE, at least for "Pandora"

Who should avoid it?

NO ONE! HOWEVER if you are VERY RELUCTANT about "ORIGINAL STORY", "GREAT CHARACTERS" blah blah blah and just cannot get the message right then don't watch it, but then you will be missing something very special "Trust me" on this one!

Summary

Go for the movie with the right expectations i.e. "An imaginative and visually spectacular movie" and put other things like a "GREAT STORY" aside. Avatar is everything what it promised to be and that is why I give it 10/10
