Satan's School for Girls (2000)
Almost, but not quite, one of the great crappy horror flics
This movie had everything going for it as far as being a one of the awful horror movies that is so bad it's funny: it has a really horrible storyline, an even worse script, cheap special effects and some of the worst overacting I've seen in years.
The only downfall of this movie was Shannon Doherty, who, though extremely hot, wretched the entire "crappy movie" experience for me with her unnerving indifference. It's like she knew that this was a bad movie to begin with, and so she didn't even try, she might as well have been reading her lines from a teleprompter (which I think she was.
As I said, this ruined the experience for me, nothing is more funny to watch then people trying to make serious horror films and failing miserably.
Clash of the Titans (1981)
Clash of the Titans is the classic
Movies about Greek heroes is by no means a rare concept; I think I have heard of about a hundred different Hercules movies and about that many retellings of Homer's Oddessey. However, Clash of the Titans stands out above them all as THE greatest movie based on Greek mythology. It captures the essence of the Greek pantheon beautifully and has some of the best sets I have seen out of any movie. The story, though thousands of years old, is easily as intriguing and creative as anything our modern fantasy writers can come up with. Truly, Clash of the Titans is a classic.
Queen of the Damned (2002)
Be prepared for something a little trippin'
Queen of the Damned has an extremely neat "surreal" or "impressionistic" feel to it. Meaning, that it starts off as a series of hazy incidences that don't seem quite to fit together. But then at the end the movie "pulls back" if you will revealing the entire picture and through this the audience gets an impression of a real story. This style of movie-making can be very effective and enjoyable but only if you like that sort of thing, which I don't. Let me say this, if you like "From Hell" you would probably like Queen of the Damned.
