Dicks: The Musical (2023)

Utterly ridiculous fun

I loved this movie because it doesn't take it's self seriously. It is utterly ridiculous. It takes shots at everyone and everything. Which is so refreshing when compared to other movies being released in 2023 that walk on egg shells to not offend anybody and to represent everyone.

If you go into this just looking to have a good time while eating some popcorn, you'll love it. If you are easily offended, a member of the alphabet community, or a person who only laughs when told to do so, you'll probably hate this.

Not every film has to be a fine piece of artistic cinema that is award worthy. This movie is just pure entertainment... I laughed, I said "WTF?!", I smiled and then went on with my day. Movies today often forget that they can just be a fun escape and Dicks: The Musical is exactly that...

Insulting to the fans

This movie was so bad I have stricken it from my memory and movie collection. It is insulting to any fan of the series. The intro scene feels like a real Indy movie and I was happy in my seat chomping on my popcorn. Then they introduced "her"... Phoebe Waller-Bridge. What an insufferable character. She is disrespectful, smug, cocky, annoying, and pretty much any other trait you would never want near you. All in the name of showing how women can do it better than men. What a complete joke.

Anybody who was going to see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was already a fan of the series, so you think Disney would cater to the fans, nope. They made Indy into a depressed, washed up, alcoholic, who no longer loves his career and is essentially waiting to die alone as he is forced into retirement. Yes, that is exactly how I pictured Indy ending up Disney... Disney eliminate Indy's wife Marian and causally mention how his son died. The "hero" of this movie (or what Disney wants you to believe is the hero) tries to kill the title character on multiple occasions for her own selfish benefit and we are suppose to cheer her on? Screw this, I'm out... horrible movie and an insult to the fans of the series.

I gave this 2 stars, instead of 1 to help differentiate it from the trolls. I really wanted to like this movie, but it was next to impossible to do so.
