Hellraiser (2022)
Just another bland sequel
True Hellraiser fan here. For casual fans I guess this movie is ok, but for hardcores this is another disappointing sequel. Here's the problem to me, too much emphasis on the puzzle box. In Hellraiser 1, we learn about the box in Frank's orgin and then the box comes into play again when Kristie has to put the cenobites back in it. To me the puzzlebox has taking over the theme of the movies. What made the 1st movie a true horror classic was that it was really a sexual thriller/haunted house film. A movie about a guy name Frank and his disappearance. The box, cenobites, pinhead were supporting players. The sequels have decided the story should be about the box/cebobites/pinhead with no interesting subplots or stories. This movie was ok, kinda boring, but I've never been so tired of the puzzlebox its sooo overplayed in this movie.
The Bad Guys (2022)
Fun for the whole family
The characters were interesting and fantastic, animation was great, and the moral was great for kids and adults alike, hopefully we get a sequel because I miss the gang already, definitely check it out.
Hellarious (2019)
Surprisingly good time
Must say I was very surprised. Hellarious was a good time. Had a nice natural comedic tone to it, had a couple stories that should be in the anthology story Hall of fame(Until death, Killer cart, Once bitten) nice pacing, nice gore and effects and it had the most important element every horror film should have, it wasnt boring. Worth checking out indeed.
Halloween Kills (2021)
An old school slasher released in 2021?? Sign me up
Was it goofy? Yes. Was it uneven? Yes. Was it political? Yes. Was it retread material from the other movies? Yes. Whatever the haters say thats bad about this movie, it has it, and so what! It was a entertaining 90 minutes, of a beloved horror character, with the old school charm of golden age slashers. Those weren't perfect movies, they were flawed and thats ok, its what gave them charm. For teen date nights, for mature audiences nostalgia, for B-movie aficionados, you cant go wrong with Halloween Kills.
Tales from the Hood 3 (2020)
Stories were ok with weird endings
All the stories were decent but had weird over the top supernatural endings. The 2nd story was obviously the best followed by the 1st, 4th, wrap around, then 3rd. I will say the thing thats missing from the TFTH sequels, is that the moral of the stories are too conventional and simple, not like the 1st movie where you could play it in any urban school, detention/community center etc and it was powerful enough to scare at least a couple people straight
