I finished Season 1 last night. What a disappointment! The writing of the ending caused me to deduct two stars from the eight I would otherwise have given it.
James Corden's acting in Mammals was, somewhat to my surprise, fantastic. The rest of the cast was fine, and the plot was reasonably engaging. And then we get to the last ten minutes and every bit of good faith the series had earned up to that point completely dropped away, with an ending that was both preposterous and unsatisfying. It was probably the worst ending to an otherwise good production I have ever seen.
No, I'm not a Corden hater; as I said, I thought his acting was top-notch. But boy, if you held a competition to write the worst possible ending to a story, the ending of Mammals would win hands down.
