Blood Diamond (2006)
An impressive movie about a continent in hope of enduring peace
Today we live in a world, in which not only those who are in war seek peace but also those who are in outwardly peace but inwardly in war.
What you get to see in this movie is on one hand the seek of peace and on the other hand the madness of human beings, who completely lost their humanity. Indeed the man has the potential to be better than angels, but he has also the same potential to be the lowest of the low! TIM = This is mankind...! You see also why hope should be the last thing one loses. It is naive and pure hope that keeps Solomon alive while the whole country burns to the ground. It is hope that drives Danny to help Solomon...
During the movie one asks the question: "Ok, the rich white guys want the diamonds and for that they sell weapons to both sides, so that the diamond-prizes stay low, but how and when did Africans become such monsters?" Maybe this is also the accomplishment of those who saw Africa and Africans as their God-given possession, with which and with whom they could do anything they wanted throughout the history...
A must see for all those people, who want to understand a little bit, why Africa is still the poor continent of this planet, although it has diamond, oil, gold etc...

Precious movie with an universal message
This is one of the most touching movies I have ever seen so far. It has to be seen by everyone, who wants great cinema with great messages. Nowadays there are very few films which combine these two.
You should watch this beautiful example of modern cinema with your whole family (especially with your children) and not only once, because it will change your view on life, on property, on family and on friendship! This is the first movie by Majid Majidi I watched. Therefore I can't say anything about other films he has made, but I can say this about "The Children of Heaven:
"Mr. Majid Majidi Thank You very much for this masterpiece of cinema!"
Kurtlar Vadisi: Irak (2006)
Turkish addendum to how our world has gone out of control.
In times of "Syriana", "Constant Gardener" and "Lord of War" this movie is the Turkish addendum to how our world has gone out of control. It is more right than ever to say that those who have power want more power those who have money want more money in any circumstances without any morals. So I wonder why some people complain about these facts, when this movie shows them to the viewers, if those people are for democracy, freedom and equality between all humans. Almost every mature man and woman knows and understands why the US has gone in to Iraq. After it has been covered up, what had been obvious to most of the Turkish and middle-eastern people, it was only a question of time, when such a movie would come out.
While "Syriana" reflects the dirty business of oil and corruption, while "Constant Gardener" reflects the dirty business of pharmaceuticals and corruption and while "Lord of War" reflects the dirty business of gunrunners and corruption "Kurtlar Vadisi Irak" gives a little bit insight what is going on in a country, occupied by those who want more power and more money, whatever it may costs in human-lives and human-dignity.
About the events shown in this movie, we have been aware of through various media before, haven't we? So what changes our minds as mature and righteous human beings, when we see those events in a movie, played by actors? We should condemn them in the same way we did before no matter if it is a bombing of innocents by the occupiers or if it is a bombing of innocents by suicide-attacks.
Is this an anti-Us movie? No this is an anti-war, anti-corruption and an anti-imperialism movie. "Kurtlar Vadisi Irak" does not condemn a whole nation like once "Midnight Express" did in the most shabby way, it damns those who know no ethical standards and show no respect to other cultures, religions and nations.

Masterpiece in beautiful Images
I have seen few movies, which has that intensity of beautiful cinematography of locations and nature. The whole movie is a perfection of cinematography. If there were no plot in this movie, it would be still worth to watch, because you could use most of the 25 images per second as desktop background or as a picture on your wall. And the use of the colors... it's indescribable, you have to see it!
That's why this movie is so excellent, it has also a great plot.
Highly impressed I am.
