School for Scoundrels (2006)
Yes!!! Finally A Movie Worth Watching
This movie was absolutely great! I loved it! It was funny, entertaining, and allowed for every emotion to felt at some period from beginning to end.
The cast is great, could not have been better! Jon Heder's character was great and Jon played a more serious role for a change. His role was probably the biggest and most refreshing change as far as casting. It was so different from Napoleon Dynamite and Blades of Glory! He truly done a great job, showing that he can do anything in the way of acting. I would like to see him play something serious like a detective or something funny, such as a: hippie, stoner type character. He could do it! Bill Bob, well...He is always great and lets face it, Billy Bob as a scoundrel, a cant miss! He totally nails it by the way and allows for some surprises, laughter, and the "shock" factor. He plays a lier, a manipulator, a cheat, and a scum bag. All in one movie...So him! Heratio Sanz, who plays a weakling who is abused by his wife. Then after the class, leaves his abusive wife for a verbally abusive woman (Sara Silverman). Heratio is one of my favorite actor's...Loved everything he done on Saturday Night Live and Boat Trip! Sara Silverman, the bitchy room-mate who seeks and craves attention. She is so good at playing these parts and she plays this one great. Job well done! Michael Clark Duncan playing the tough guy was great. One of my favorite scenes was when he got shot between the eyes by Jon Heder and the other was when he had to play Cindy for the class. (Him in a blonde wig was hilarious!)
Lastly, Ben Stiller as a crazy, demented, "cat-man" psycho seeking revenge was great. No one else could have played that part any better!
However, the whole time I was watching it, I was thinking, this is going to be just like Anger Management. At times, it was very close. Then boom, the end, where Billy Bob is really trying to steal Jon's woman and whisk her away. Totally unexpected...was a great twist...It had me on the edge of my chair, cussing Billy Bob, biting my fingers, and pitying Jon Heder's character! WOW! If you are looking for a great, entertaining, and suspenseful comedy...This is it! It is definitely an entertainment filled 2 hour movie worth watching a couple of times! Thanks for a great, refreshing movie!
Moving McAllister (2007)
A Waste of Film and Time
This movie had so much potential to be hilarious yet moving but fell way short of either. It had a great story line, it just was not executed as good as it could have been. The weird "hallucinations" during his sleep scenes made absolutely no sense and definitely was not needed, they made no impact nor did they enhance or lend any understanding of what was to come or happen.
Jon Heder's character was OK but could have been expanded upon more. He played the crappy part he was given at his best. The character was funny, but again, it fell short of what could have been.
Mila's character was perfect and her performance was spot on.
In closing, the writing was horrible and more often than not, made no sense and his hallucinations did not fit with the movie at all. This movie, with better scripting and directing, could have been a contender to National Lampoon's Vacation as far as funny, bad things happening to a person on a trip across America.
Instead, it was only worthy of a second "flush". If I would have seen this at the theater, I would have demanded my money back and boycotted the film.
The only thing that this film did was waste an hour and a half of my life. It also managed to make all those involved in the movie look bad, simply because the movie was a stinker.
I do not recommend this movie to anyone! Ever!
