Cloud Atlas (2012)
10/10
Head in the Clouds
28 February 2013
Cloud Atlas... bizarre and beautiful, artistic and intriguing, bloody long and I found it so so hard to watch... the first half of the film it annoyed me with all the jumping between timelines and, to be honest, if I was watching it on the small screen I would have happily turned it off but on the big screen it was epic and damn glorious... After the first half though u really gt into it, the languages and acting is amaze balls. It really isn't ur typical film, there are so so many undercurrents and themes that even now after sleeping on it I am still thinking about it... This film, if u get it, really stays with u, there are so many quotes in it that I am off to look up. At three hours it is very long and demanding but now I kind of want more, a four hour directors cut would actually be welcome! It really is more than just a film, for me it was a piece of art, like all good art it provokes an emotional response and hell I was responding all over the place, i was happy, sad, confused, irritated, elevated, intrigued and exhausted! It really is a journey of a film and I am so glad I saw it first on the big screen... On the small screen I would have skipped it and I really would have missed something very very special! Can't wait for the blu ray/DVD and seriously considering reading the book.

If u do watch it make sure u don't leave until u see the cast of characters, without giving anything away u do know that the main actors play different roles in the different time zones, it was great because, for example, u like some of Tom Hanks roles in the film and others u want to smack him... But at the end u will be amazed how complete the actors were... i was amazed to see all the actors swapping identities so completely, not only characters but genders, sexualities and even race! It really is hard to classify and even now i honestly don't know if i would recommend it still but if u do decide to take a chance see it on the big screen and stick with it, I was going thru reasons to just leave in the first hour but I am really happy I stuck with it... U can see the money spent on it and I am shocked that Hollywood took a chance on a film that really really isn't a typical blockbuster! Not for everyone but, in the end, it certainly was for me...

Torchwood (2006–2011)
10/10
Children Of Earth - series 3
25 December 2011
already a huge, massive doctor who and torchwood fan i was so excited when this was originally broadcast, five episodes in total and shown over one week, Monday to Friday... bought it on blu ray and even though i still knew the story i was amazed to find i was still completely hooked... it was and is an instant classic but still fresh... u don't have to be a previous fan of the series to jump straight in... it is a total emotional roller-coaster, u laugh, u cry, u are totally hooked into the stories and characters... even one particularly disagreeable character i ended up just loving them towards the end and ended up being so bloody upset for them...

i enjoyed series 4 also but for me, this series was amazing... 5 hours long and it just didn't pull any punches drama wise... an excellent story expertly told... to this day there are a few scenes i find damn hard to watch without a lump in my throat... magnificent performances from everyone involved....

this story could come with a money back guarantee!
