On a Wing and a Prayer (2023)
Crash and burn
Don't quite know where to begin. Let's start with the first misrepresentation of Mr White as a non-pilot. Truth is he had a private pilot's license which means he had more than a rudimentary knowledge of flying. As I saw pointed out before, the rebranding of the main characters as minorities for the pathetic attempt at virtue signaling was pathetic. The go-around on the first landing attempt, (which never happened), was the last straw. That was a clear invention and totally unnecessary as this story had plenty of drama on its own. The side drama of the daughter trying to get the EPI pen through the netting that a five year old could easily undo. Laughable. And the two "diverse" random kids? WTF. Horrible remake of what was one of the most dramatic real life stories of that decade. Shame on anyone who had anything to do with this project.
The Lighthouse (2019)
Entertainment?
I think not. Black and white?....ooooh how artsy. Sure, big fan of Dafoe, and as usual, his acting was first class, but it could not save this crap of a film. All of you cinephiles who raved about this movie are in a minority of snobs who like a film only because no one else does. A waste of time.
Pray for Death (1985)
MST3K would have loved this
The dialogue, the fight sequences and the plot were simply ridiculous even for the genre. I could go on, but what's the point. This is not a very interesting movie.
Firefox (1982)
Pure Cheese
Though a big Eastwood fan, I have to take exception with the special effects of this movie. It was made five years after the original Star Wars, yet the flying sequences look like something out of the sixties. The aircraft move on planes and at angles that are just physically impossible. The cockpit instruments are a mixture of then present day, and even some very old technology. (The altimeter, which gets a lot of exposure before the glacier landing, is probably 1950's vintage. Additionally, the model of the Firefox is hardly believable as a futuristic fighter, even for the time. The story had potential, but I guess the budget was minimal.
