Law & Order: Star Crossed (2003)
Elizabeth Rohm was just fine
I am SO sick and tired of reading the bashing of Elizabeth Rohm - all right already - we GET it! Some of you don't like her. Time to start keeping it to yourselves. Every review submitted contains some disparaging remarks intended to insult her. As soon as I see it, I stop reading the review. It's unkind and offensive to me and the author just lost any validity for me. Personally I think she was just fine, as does my husband. She's just as good as any of the others in any of the cast lineups. I like some more than others but never would I think to repeatedly disparage anyone, regardless of my opinion.
Combat!: The Pillbox (1964)
I can't offer many more accolades for Vic Morrow or this episode than have been offered so I am
Offering a little bit of fun trivia. Stark's wife's birthday was February 14th. So was Vic Morrow's. He was born on the very day of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929. I wonder if he threw that in there for the fun of it!
It was always enjoyable seeing Albert Paulsen in an episode - this was 1 of 4 appearances, I believe. He played a different character every time and did it splendidly! I also echo everyone else's praise of Rick Jason's performance. Vic Morrow was my favorite but in the episodes that Rick Jason helmed, he always did an outstanding job! He could handle the comedic moments as well as the serious. I thought it was commendable that, in interviews, he never failed to credit director VM for the complexity and richness of his portrayals. That was classy.
Combat!: The Furlough (1966)
Really enjoyed this episode
The writers portrayed Sgt. Saunders exactly how I would have had I written the screenplay! What a delightful surprise! And he and Ann made a charming couple. Ann's father recognized the fine man that Saunders was and was hopeful that Ann would find happiness again.
Every episode of this show drives home the senselessness and futility of war whether there are civilians portrayed or not; the destruction of families and homes and villages and towns. I don't think we, as Americans, realize how lucky we are not to have modern day warfare waged on our own soil.
Just a note - it was Carol Lawrence, not Carol Lombard, who played Ann.
Combat!: Birthday Cake (1964)
A fun episode
Not really review of the episode, just a correction. One reviewer referred to Sgt. Carter. I think he meant Sgt. Saunders. Sgt. Carter was on Gomer Pyle.
Law & Order: Deadlock (2006)
Correcting mistakes
Good episode.
One of these reviewers needed to double check the cast list before submitting. Craig Walker played the killer, MATT (not Mark) D'Amico played his brother. I suggest just using the characters' names in reviews and let readers look up the actors who play them. The correct information is right there on the front page.
A Step Out of Line (1971)
Really good movie
One reviewer called the men "ageing and nearing retirement". Not so. Harry's father is 63 and in need of dialysis; Joe had lost his job with a space agency and has a wife 6 months pregnant with their 4th baby and Art is trying to make it big as a photographer. He's the oldest at 49. They are desperate to stay afloat. I thought the ending was sad; I loved the use of the Giants' ballgames as an important location and the men's empty chairs at the end was very poignant.
(And I'm grateful that Vic Morrow was not killed!)
Death Valley Days: Little Washington (1953)
Louise Arthur
Played Dodie's mother, not the debutante herself. She was played by Sally Mansfield.
Law & Order: Admissions (1999)
Just a cast correction
Ed Green (Jesse Martin) wasn't Lennie's (Jerry Orbach) partner yet; it was still Rey Curtis (Benjamin Bratt).
Combat!: Cat and Mouse (1962)
Great episode, one of my favorites!
No review. Just surprised that it wasn't recognized that Saunders was having a little fun with Jenkins' irritation that he is fighting the war with amateurs when he admits to being a shoe salesman. He was joking, folks! He was having a little fun at Jenkins' expense.
