Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Why do they let stupid people write the scripts of these films?
Spoiler alert.
In a movie about all being connected to everything else, why wouldn't you write a script about how the nuclear family is what really matters? How about quotes like 'a father protects his family, that's what makes him who he is'? And of course, it all has to end in hand to hand combat, on a burning ship, that's sinking into the sea. . Some of the most cliched and stupid phrases I've ever heard in a movie,
This movie has almost as many cliches as the modern family episode where they went to Australia. The one where they let the work experience person write the whole script. Seriously. How can they go spend so much money making this film, and not pay for a proper script writer?
Blessed (2009)
Beautiful moving film
This film is fantastic. Beautifully crafted, brilliantly acted, comes together incredibly.
Aquaman (2018)
The people who made this movie should be tarred and feathered
This movie is so dumbed down it is an insult to the film industry. Every line is corny. The story line could have been okay but is executed in such a formulaic way that it provides nothing except - 'yes, of course, that would happen now in this script'. Every piece of music feels like it was created by someone with zero subtlety who received a C in 'music for film 101'. It might appeal to 8 years olds and below.
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)
This movie wasted 2.5 hours of my life
I can't believe the reviews above praising the movie. Yes, the acting is great - but the story is terrible. It plods on, trying to emulate Tarantino with the switching time sequencing, and remakes Blood Simple which was better, more challenging to watch and more importantly - ORIGINAL. None of the characters are likable or redeem themselves in any way.
I am supposed to write 10 lines, but it is not worth adding much more, other than to say I regret wasting my time seeing it when there were so many other more interesting things to do with the short space of time alloted to me (either in this life or tonight because we had a babysitter - depending whether you want to take a macro or micro view of the loss).
