Skip it! Nothing at all like the book.
29 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Let me be clear, I'm not a pretentious fop that wants movies to be 'exactly like the book'. I understand that's not possible. You couldn't have squeezed 800 pages of Wicked into a 2 hour play and you can't accurately put this book and its feeling into a movie.

That being said, the biggest problem with this movie is lack of substance at all. It's over 2 hours and about half of that are these dreamy, smeary, symbolic scenes. It's like Salvador Dali directed this movie. Wait, let me amend that to if Salvador Dali sucked and directed this movie.

Acting wise Stanley Tucci, Mark Wahlberg, are all outstanding. However, Mark's character is the only one we got to see develop. Lindsey's role was drastically reduced and Ruth (who was a VERY main character) is in this for about 2 minutes.

I was extremely disappointed. This was a complete waste on what was a phenomenal story, but just had little feeling on the big screen and was over the top on the symbolism and imagery. Okay, Mr. Jackson. WE GET IT. You have lots of vision.

As another reviewer said, if you have read the book, don't see the movie. My opinion is just don't see it at all!!

Absolutely Fabulous (1992–2012)
Absolutely Hysterical.
10 November 2009
As one reviewer mentioned, the first time they saw AF they weren't impressed. I, too, would flick right by it on Comedy Central and then I gave it a shot.

From then on I was totally hooked. No one does genuinely funny, raucous, and extraordinarily zany behavior as Jennifer and Joanna. Whether you're laughing at the general irony, funny flashbacks, or wacky substance-fueled adventures of the two friends you just never stop. Add to that the prim and proper daughter, the way out there grandmother, and the very funny airheaded assistant and it's a lethally funny combination.

The antics these two get into like sneaking into Edina's daughter's room at night to wax her upper lip or adopting a baby in order to be trendy are clever and hilarious. The bottom line is if you give this show a fair shot, you won't be disappointed!!

Melrose Place (2009–2010)
Truly Disappointed
23 October 2009
After watching the first 10 minutes of this stink fest all I could think of was the insult to the memory of the true Melrose Place.

The original Melrose Place had mid to late twenty somethings that lived in a realistic-to-their- income complex and had real-life issues carried out in the dramatic fashion of talents such as Heather Locklear. This new show is just another Gossip Girl/The Hills/ The City imitation that is some kind of fantasy world where everyone is 20 years old, an Abercrombie model, rich, and oh-by-the-way wildly successful as an agent/photographer/etc.

The acting is terrible, none of these newbies can barely utter a line with believable deliverance and the sets are over the top decorated and adorned. The script writers also aren't on their way to an Emmy anytime soon, either. I wish Laura Leighton and Thomas Calabro hadn't sullied their acting reputation by getting into bed this bomb.
