Dangal (2016)
Not happy.
Dangal is the most overrated film I have watched in a very long time. Every unbiased movie lover, I think, would agree to the fact that the cinematic representation is not any different from any sports related movie you pick, be it Gavin O'Connor's "Miracle" or Shimit Amin's "Chak De India". There goes your point for originality. Now if we take the "Biographical" thing into account then the film at most can be described as "Inspired by real life events". Winning at the last round at the last moment may be more adrenaline rushing for the audience but that, in my opinion, is demeaning for the athlete who originally won the game 1-0, 7-0. Talking of demeaning, the way sports persons have been depicted in the film is something to talk about. The fake things that are shown in the movie in the name of cinematic liberty just for the sake of creating sympathy in the audience, be it locking up Mr. Phogat in a room during finals or the Australian player's interview, both are very against Sportsman spirit. Aamir Khan's dedication is unquestionable, he also is a good actor. He took great efforts to look like a wrestler for so little screen time. All the talks of perfection and look at overweight actress who played the Australian wrestler. Does she even have an athlete's physique? An entire film can not be made with one dedicated actor. There are also contradictory statements about women's equality in the movie, which I am not going into much details as this is a "biographical movie". At least let's not hurt other's emotion just to make one person look like a hero when dealing with real people. In our country it's a very dangerous thing to affect people's emotion in a wrong way. I feel bad for the real NSA coach of Geeta Phogat.
The Dark Knight (2008)
The ultimate movie experience
From the very beginning to the very end The Dark Knight is just perfection on a movie screen. If you have seen that movie in a normal theatre I suggest you see that again in an IMAX one. Only then will you realize more clearly that it is another movie that has pushed many aspects of film-making to their limits. Some scenes are shown in 1.44:1 ratio in IMAX to make your adrenaline rush more effective. Well, catchy special effects are not the only things to look for in this movie, the acting is superb. Everyone gave their best. Heath Ledger is outstanding in the role of the joker. He gave a multi award winning performance. The character joker rocks too. I don't really remember any other villain without any motive, without any plan. The joker really leaves a trail in your mind with his presence, his personality, reflection of his mind, his plans without really planning anything. He makes you think, "Why so serious?" Christian Bale is also the best batman so far in my opinion. One thing is for sure, if you haven't watched The Dark Knight you really have missed a real cinema. Go see it in an IMAX theatre and you will never regret it.
Tintorettor Jishu (2008)
Climax ruined the film
I am a die hard fan of Feluda. So whenever I see a Feluda movie coming it means a lot of excitement and expectations for me and I got a little bit disappointed with this one. The first half of the movie is as perfect as it could be. Feluda does his usual works in India, spots the bad man but discovers that he can't do anything from India and heads for Hong Kong. The starting scene and the locations were good enough to explain the visuals needed for the story but the modification of the original novel in the second half made me disappointed. Here comes the turn in the story when one of the characters come to Hong Kong to save Feluda and he turns out to be the original savior of the picture that Feluda came to rescue. That made the entire concept of Feluda coming to Honh Kong meaningless. A car chase in the end makes the film a bit modern and utilizes the views of the foreign locations. Some use of martial arts have also been shown and if you are a Feluda fan you have no other option than watch it and viewers who are not familiar with Feluda or haven't read the novel are going to enjoy the movie. So,lots of expectations for the next one.
