The Magnificent Ambersons (2002)
Eww this movie stunk!
Cannot believe this movie was made, much less that ANYONE cared for it. Young George was really over the top, atrocious acting by all except for Eugene's daughter, forgot her name-- When Madeline Stowe was in a scene, all I could look at was her weird application of lipstick, couldn't understand why she moped around and let her CHILD tell HER what to do either. Tilly was horrendous, and as for James Cromwell, I usually like his movies, but he was ridiculous in this one. Cannot believe he agreed to do this movie. The over-acting by the cast was accompanied by a very poor script, making my list of all time BAD movies.
What in this world was all the hullabaloo about? I didn't see anything interesting nor shocking about this production, something a little strange when George kisses his mother, but this serves only to make the movie even MORE unbelievable.
What a terrible waste of time!!
The Hours (2002)
Possibly the worse movie I have ever seen
Who could LIKE this movie, and why?? Just a bunch of miserable pathetic women whining and whining---my god, if I wanted to hear that I could go visit my Aunt Bertha!!
Terribly boring pathetic movie
The Ring (2002)
So many holes in plot--
Good effects, lacking substance and credibility
Possible Spoilers--
I don't understand, someone explain to me. Where did the child come from? Just what was wrong with her?
Why did the little boy keep knowing things that were going to happen? Why did you see different things on the film as you saw people watching the tape later? Such as the girl climbing out of the well? Why did the girl's mother have on clothes from another time period when she was killing the girl? What significance did the fly have that the journalist picked off of the screen when she was watching the tape? How could a dead person make a tape and call you on the phone? Why use the phone? Did she have a phone in the well? How did the teenagers who all died from "watching" the film know that when the caller said 7 days, the caller meant they would all die in 7 days?
If you knew four people had died from watching a tape exactly 7 days from the day they had watched it, would you rush to watch it? Why not call in some help?? Why did the journalist not take a picture of the deadbeat dad after he watched the film? See if he was blurry too?? Why leave a tape so "dangerous" around, convenient for your kid to watch? (hope mom was better with her X rated tapes) Who was lurking around in the foyer when the journalist and the deadbeat dad were in the farmhouse AFTER the old man had fried? In the sequal will the killer movie now be in DVD?? LMAO
Hey I'm surprised I didn't DIE after watching this film, just from remorse for wasting my time.
Some eerie video effects, the hint of the possiblity of a truely scary story, tied together far too loosely.
Sorry, gotta get me with a good story as well as good effects...
Even sorrier that the mass public is eating it up. I have had a hard time finding a good movie lately, and now I know why. If we applaud such ill thought out plotlines, that is what we will get. Why take the time to design a truely believable plotline, when you can churn them out faster if the plotline is not to be worried with?
When have we last had a movie of the calibre of Shawshank Redemption, Sling Blade, Forest Gump, Babe, Pulp Fiction, or Blair Witch? For the last year, I rent em, I take em back, usually shaking my head and saying, what the hell was all that about??
I'm sorry guys, but we gotta demand more for our movie $$$'s.
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Ignore the bad reviews here, this is a MUST SEE movie
I had avoided this movie, as I had been told it was terrible. I see from some of the comments here, lots of people agreed. I happened on this movie by accident on cable, and was speechless throughout the entire movie!! I could NOT believe I had missed this movie, relying on others opinions. Maybe those who have voiced disappointment in the movie are REAL science fiction Buffs, and as I am not I do not know the standards by which they rate their sci-fi. But as an avid movie watcher of many genres, this one will go on my list of top 100. It's that good, it really is.
Many scenes were magical, unbelievably creative and some merely thought provoking, altogether a very haunting movie. I WANT one of those Teddy Bears!!
The 'beings' in the end, were very creative, totally believable. (Some of these sci-fi movies have aliens that look like Muppets) This was a beautiful movie, A++, a definate 10.
Homecoming (1996)
Wonderful Movie, 9 score of 10
This movie was so wonderful in so many aspects. I read some of the other comments here and was surprised when some rated it a "bore". Beautifully cast and filmed, it touched my heart. Anne Bancroft has been a favorite of mine since I saw her in 'Night Mother, and she does not dissappoint in this role. I did not know this was based on a book, I'm headed to Amazon to buy it!!
If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and check it out--Your kids will love it too!
