A Hole in the Head (1998)
This is a "How-to", not a documentary.
Brought this video shortly after it was released.
People make the mistake of imagining this is a documentary. It's NOT. It's a "how-to" for those who want to perform either self trepanation or assist in trepanning another.
As for powerdrills and nightmares; It isn't 20-30 people worldwide following one man and they use hand drills too(in fact they are safer). Lose sleep if you will.
for some strange reason, there doesn't seem to be a CD folllow up or MP3 file.
where would i be best placed to sell this single copy i have if pos? My copy is VHS but in A1 condition.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
hah-ha!!
I am always wary of comedies/Especially American comedies as there sees to be no understanding of subtle humour, satire or sarcasm. But I ended up watching the Bog-Bang theory;simply because it was on at a time when everyone sat down and put the TV on(lock-in time in prison). I find that they always have to either explain the joke, sometimes more than once,or use 'canned' laughter to prompt a reaction to a gag. However, subject aside, the actors (timing and interaction) play their parts in what is a really great show.I feel kinda stupid even saying this and my son gives me hell,as he deems it to be simple and ridiculous. But maybe that is what makes it funny.I can't be sure, but I do know that I have every episode on my external hard drive;usually a place reserved only for the very bast films or TV I have seen.It IS funny.Take away the laughter and see if it is still funny-I think it will be.But maybe I am just getting old.I will still never watch another re-run of morcambe&wise especially at Christmas?I wonder if this will fall by the way side in the same way.roll on Christmas 2033 and we will see.
Celda 211 (2009)
a piece of history
I can't believe that so few people have mentioned the links of this plot with the real life chaos and savagery that occurred back in 1971 in Attica.Maybe it has just been too long, but you only have to click through you tube to find actual footage recorded, especially that of the government forces storming the prison, full of a few extremists but largely hungry, tired and scared prisoners. They shot tear gas into the yard and the term 'spray and pray' comes to mind. The prisoners had a few home made shanks;any weaponry they had accrued from officers were empty and used only as a 'blunt instrument' with which to bludgeon other prisoners. There was clearly very little resistance;certainly not ample to warrant the warfare that was inflicted upon them that day, killing tens of largely innocent men and several officers as there was no way that anyone could have seen anything amidst the foggy haze of tear gas.If you watch 'Cell 211' ,it is clear to see that even the lay out of the prison is similar.I am no expert but this is an opportunity for everyone to see the similarities and the men who fell at Attica should be remembered and 'honoured' to a degree.Of course, initially there were ridiculous demands but towards the end of the stand off,it should be noted that the men inside were asking mostly for simple human rights to be respected and to not be humiliated and undermined at every opportunity.I also think that the events at Attica made a significant difference in how modern prisons are run,in terms of allowing those simple human rights to be respected whilst also increasing safety measures for correctional officers. Disregarding this obvious homage,it is a wildly fantastic film. The kind of film that will remain timeless and set standards for time to come.Incredible acting, producing and editing.I love this film-just love it.
