Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards (2016)
Great Epi(C)sode....but somewhat overrated!!
No doubt this episode is one of the most well-directed and visually stunning episodes in the GOT history but to say as many IMDb members and GOT fans have stated that 'this is the greatest TV show and this episode is the greatest in TV history' is too much exaggeration and an insult to all the other Great TV shows out there. If the producers and writers of the series didn't come up with such an episode as this with all the chilling and grand-scale war scenes, many of us would have definitely cursed this show as we have been doing for the last 2-3 episodes. One more thing I'd like to point out here is the IRONY. Jon Snow was firmly against the idea of deploying the wildlings to fight for Stannis, citing ideals but the strange twist of fate forced him to ask for their support for the capture of Winterfell. But overall, this was a well-directed and fantastic episode bringing an end to one of the most gruesome characters of GOT.
Game of Thrones: No One (2016)
Decent Episode....if one didn't go for the HYPE surrounding this one.
I was hoping massive progress on Jon and Sansa's part and was inclined to think that as IMDb has wrongly listed 'Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Olenna Tyrell, High Sparrow' in the Cast column. I waited and waited but they were nowhere to be seen in the entire episode. Game of Thrones, which is famed for the surprise and excitement in it's 8th episode(sometimes even 9th), gave somewhat of a lackluster performance this week. I guess if it weren't for so many guesses and speculations about what might happen next, the fans wouldn't have been let down. 3 characters have returned to the show in this season - one dead and the other two(presumed dead). I seriously hope we get to see some of the much anticipated action along the lines of Winterfell and The Hound in the next episode.
Taken (2008)
One of the greatest action flick in the history of Hollywood.
This 90 minute action movie keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole time wondering what will be the next course of action. Liam Neeson very well portrays the role of a caring father and an ex-spy who has some very great skills. The direction is very good and the editing is razor sharp. Not even one scene where the viewer can complain of it being unnecessary. The action sequences are mind blowing and more importantly, the hand-to-hand combat has been extremely well done. The way Liam Neeson finds each link looks so genuine. The two car chase scenes are also a treat to watch. All in all it's an awesome movie. This kind of cinema comes with great effort and hard work. My only complain, if I can put it that way is that the movie should have been a little longer so we could have more of it.
Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991)
Copied... scene by scene, although nice job.
As many of us know this movie is a rip-off of It Happened One Night. Not even one scene has been left out, yes songs have been added and some cheap comedy by the characters. I guess bollywood movies don't need storywriters or scriptwriters coz 99% of bollywood movies are copied/inspired/rip-offs from Hollywood or Japanese/Korean/French/Russian movies. If they(foreign counterparts) don't make movies, we'll be short of scripts and bollywood will be finished. But eventually I guess, nowadays we don't need their(Hollywood) story coz nowadays the quality of movies made in India are very pathetic. Nowadays, there is no storyline, the only genre of movies being made is comedy and that too very, very cheap. Item songs in a movie is a must nowadays for the success of the movie. We have and are acquiring the technology in film-making but not the class/quality of films.
Kahaani (2012)
Could have been much better.
The plot was fine but the director missed some very important details. There was no serious mention of both the murders(Agnes & Dr. Ganguly) by the lead characters as to why the victims were targeted and no pity/regret for them (victims). Also how did Vidya Balan got trained to use such skills? It'd have been nice to see some training. The retired officer(Bajpayee) didn't quite fit the character, I mean he didn't look as if he could train and impart such skills. The producers and director should've casted someone like Manoj Bajpayee or for that sake anyone else. Another loophole according to me was the scene where Vidya & Rana go to the old office of NDC. They break the lock and minutes later Bob arrives, he enters the office. Doesn't he notice the broken lock and smells something fishy? Just before intermission we're shown the scene where Bob pushes Vidya in front of the railway. What was the sense in showing the scene twice, I couldn't understand, just to create curiosity in the viewer. Another major flaw- When Vidya Balan visits the police station in the later half, Mr. Chatterjee(fat policeman) welcomes her. And we hear the error sounds from the computer. The policeman is relieved to see her & asks her to fix the PC. Then he goes out for some work and returns in 3-4 minutes. By then, Vidya completes her task. And then she asks the permission of Mr. Chatterjee to leave. Now, in the whole scene, the policeman doesn't even bother to ask her as to why did she come there? And as Vidya's motive was to extract information from the computer, how did she know that at exactly same time will Mr. Chatterjee leave? And when the policeman returns, it doesn't even strike him as to why she's leaving so early? I mean, the viewer will be just left wondering about these questions. One relief was that there were no songs in the film and some light comedy was really done well. The Character Of Rana and Khan were played brilliantly by both the actors & Vidya Balan was as usual at her best. Also the cinematography of the movie was good. Essence Of Calcutta is very well captured in the movie. The psycho character played by Bob was also up to the mark. It'd be nice if the producers make a prequel to the movie. Then we can learn more about Bidya, her husband, Milan Damji, Bajpayee and many more characters in detail. Also, it would be nice to see some training in the institute.
