...E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà (1981)
The gate to hell is a hole in the wall
This movie might appealing to some probably due it's mastery of fee technical aspects but oh boy it falls flat in everything else.
The premise of the story sounds interesting but the actual plot looks like a compilation of gruesome death scenes of characters you see for the first time or you don't know how they are connected to the main plot of the movie.
The soundtrack is confusing to say the least, playing an uplifting happy music during a guresome death scene doesn't make any sense.
The acting is not bad most of the time but the dialogue sounds like it was dubbed maybe because of the accent of some actors which kinda makes less immersed especially when the acting doesn't really match the dialogue intensity.
The movie also suffers from character positioning problem, for instance, the living dead keep teleporting between locations all the time which make you wonder how they ended up here or there and when.
In summary, if you are a Lucio's fan have at it and enjoy whatever you think he is doing well, everybody else don't waste your time.
Oldboy (2013)
Stayed true to the original in the most idiotic way possible!
I watched the original film because of the remake, but don't get me wrong, I never heard of Oldboy until they started marketing the remake. My curiosity pushed me to see the original, an American remake for a Korean film, I thought to myself this film should be really good, otherwise it wouldn't have got Hollywood attention.
Oldboy, still talking about the original, is a very disturbing movie. It takes you in a long and an exotic journey that ends with a big slap on the face. An ending that can't ever be expected by a sane person. Oldboy is a lovely meal of drama, bit of comedy, action, dark romance and an awesome soundtrack that will surely touch your heart. Excellent acting by the lead stars of the original made it as perfect as it is.
Now back to the remake which is pretty embarrassing. First, the story is thrown at your face. There is no decent soundtrack. Shocking as it is, the acting of Josh Brolin was really bad. The relationship between the two leads was pretty much forced. Even the mysteriousness and the dominance of the antagonist was toned down to a shameful display. Truth be told, the fighting scenes looked more fast and violent than the original. Although they tried to replicate the camera angle and employed similar settings to that famous fight scene, the end result came out as a parody and not a tribute.
My advice to you, watch the original one first and then watch the remake.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Walter's Rise and Fall!
I felt compelled to write because I really enjoyed breaking bad, not all of it, but it had its thrilling moments, ones really memorable are the turtle scene, bombing Gus and the second encounter with Tuco.
What I really need to say, the fact that Walter is victimizing himself in way that you can relate to is well crafted. He has a grandiosity dementia which is the product of his acute intelligence, yet sometimes, he is sensitive and breakable by the least of emotions. Severe paranoia mixed with psychopathic morale is the actual trade mark of Heisenberg.Creating such a character is really a job well done! We are almost days away of the final 8 episodes, and let me be frank for a moment, the first 8 were not up to par. The absence of a powerful adversary kinda took away the magic of Breaking Bad, Walter is going down, one way or the other, but I hope his fall is going to be as memorable as the fall of Hitler, if you know what I mean.
P.S: Spinning off Saul, eh, fed up with corrupted lawyer drama, I would rather see a crossover between Hannibal and Heisenberg.
