Beautiful

Beautiful character development, great writing. Max's and Helen's love is palpable. The surgery is a bit unbelievable, but serves its purpose. Overall, I love that they still manage to do the show inspiring and motivating.

It will make you feel

Warning: Spoilers
I liked this short film very much. There is not much storyline. It is about a guy going through a hardship, a separation or a loss, it does not matter, but the feelings that this film triggers are everwhelming. I must admit I watched it twice. The first time I was kind of overthinking everthing, which I think blocked my senses and I missed out a lot. The second time i just went with the flow of the movie and let my senses absorb the images and omg I had goosebumps. Every image touched a different nerve, which resulted in a myriad of feelings all coming along at the same time. Totally worth watching only for this experience.

The directing is impressive, it takes some guts and creativity to show such a strong pain so realistically and at the same time unconventionally. Beautiful mind. I can not wait to see other movies directed by Kristen Stewart and I hope she will do a lot. I also hope to see Josh Kaye in other movies. He is a natural and does a freaking great job in portraying the main character. I totally believed in his pain.

The visuals are stunning and stirring. Some images keep appearing out of nowehere in my mind: The wave, this big scary wave that is about to crash and something terrible to happen, and then the crash under water, strangely beautiful and peacefull (I can not imagine how they filmed this, it must have been a lot of fun); The changeup when the main character sits in his room room and appears in suddenly his car which is under water, not understanding where he is, what the hell happened (Amazing shot). In less than a second this shot made me relive the feeling of being utterly lost when I was at my deepest down; The image when he is trying to reach the water, crawling, almost dead, but still trying. (... I went jogging, jogging was my salvation, I was desperately trying to keep jogging although I felt like I had a stone in my stomach and wanted to throw up.)

All in all, I totally recommend this short, although it is about a hardship, I do think it is quite optimistic.

Equals (2015)

Beautiful, raw, emotional. The best movie I have seen this year
12 July 2016
I enjoyed this movie big time. It is sad that such a good movie is so underrated and unpopular. For me it is a masterpiece of conveying love and emotions in a raw and beautiful way. It is literally a treat to the eye and the soul and It stuck with me for weeks.

About the plot: "Equals" is set in a futuristic world where emotions are considered to be a weakness and humans are genetically altered to be feelingless. However, some have a genetic bug (classed as a the disease S.O.S (Switched on syndrome)) and ultimately struggle with their emotions in a society which banns them. There is a lot of critic about the plot out there, mostly that it is very similar to other futuristic dystopian movies like Gattaca, Equilibrium etc. Sure, but which movie does not share some similarities with others? Personally, I liked the plot a lot and i think it should not be taken only at its face value. I think it invites people to draw some interesting conclusions about our life and our relationships today, make some parallels about various situations where people have to hide their true feelings. In a very subtle way It somehow invites people to follow their feelings, their true selves.

For me this movie is a piece of art, a masterpiece in portraying love and feelings in a beautiful and stirring way. It is simple and deep. The appeal is in the feelings and emotions of the main characters, which are conveyed in a raw, natural, and honest way. I enjoyed every second and felt every emotion the main characters Silas and Nia went through. It made me feel so much and i found myself in tears several times. Kristen Stewart (Nia) and Nicholas Hoult (Silas) have crazy chemistry and do an excellent job portraying all the firsts of their love. Absolutely delightful and natural performance. I loved that they were acting primarily with their eyes. I am sure i will watch this movie many times.
