Fainaru fantajî sebun adobento chirudoren (2005)
Totally Confusing!
OK, so I have never played any FF games. Not one. So at my little neighbor's birthday, they played this movie. I had no idea what was going on, so my friends explained to me in the game what happened, and that this was after that and so on. Well that didn't help. The only character development is with Cloud, and thats only because he comes out of "recluse" although I've only picked that up through reading the summary on IMDb. So these three bad guys looking for "mother" (What the hell?) come and fight cloud and kidnap some kids and eventually, summon a big dragon out of the sky. At this point the movie becomes just an excuse for fighting because Cloud's whole "team" just comes out of NOWHERE and they kill it.
PLOT and understanding aside, this movie had amazing visuals and really cool fight scenes. The music however was AWFUL and just simple piano that was very out of place in some places. Some of the distorted guitar in chase scenes were cool.
Overall, I give this movie a 5/10 because its totally foreign if you haven't played the game and its attempt to bring people up to speed is really bad. I didn't care about any of the characters the whole time, but the cool visuals and fight scenes make up for some of this.
The Day After the Day After Christmas (2004)
imaginative and brilliantly groundbreaking
you should definitely see this movie, this is a filmmaker on the rise. i saw his other short film "CARAVEL" and was blown away. the writing was excellent and the star, John Lange, was amazingly funny. Mr. Dobler's work in sound design is also amazing.
Anyway, back to The Day After the Day After Christmas. The plot is imaginative yet simple, the way any short film should be. We find the main character outside of her apartment ditching her Christmas tree where she finds a record wrapped in a pretty red ribbon. Little does she know that this "ribbon" has a mind of its own and tries to attack her. I couldn't stop laughing, please go see this movie, and then go see Caravel, both are great works and I can't recommend them enough.
Ocean's Twelve (2004)
People didn't get it...
The people who bash this movie were looking for it to be as cool and slick as the first one, which this isn't. This movie was supposed to be the complete opposite as Ocean's 11. This has been said by a lot of the cast members and also the director, Steven Soderbergh. Ocean's 12, while it did lack a gripping plot, is being bashed because it was different then what people wanted. If it were released before Ocean's 11, it would be taken much differently, not as a failed sequel. The problem with sequels is people go into it with a preset idea of what it should be like it and have lots of expectations. They should go into this movie with an open mind and not expect it to be "Ocean's 11, again".
After the Sunset (2004)
I spit on this film!
'After the Sunset' is about Pierce Bronsan, a retired jewel thief. At the beginning he steals a diamond, but the heist scene isn't very good at all, and neither is this movie. So the movie starts where most heist movies end, in paradise. This movie is so stupid because Pierce Bronsan doesn't really want to steal the diamond until this idiot of an FBI agent comes and tricks him into it. The whole movie is pretty dumb, its just Brosnan, Hayek and Harrelson goofing off on an island, then eventually some sort of plot picks up, Don Cheadle recruits Brosnan to steal the diamond, then he gives Don Cheadle the plans on how to do it, but he really is just using that as a decoy so he can steal the diamond. This film has a very loose plot that isn't very gripping, and the actual heist scene is very childish and simple.
I spit on this movie, Mwahah!
Legends of the Hidden Temple (1993)
Great family game show
This show is a classic nickelodeon game show. It had fun challenges and obstacle courses, and if you watched it as a kid, you can tune in too Nick Gas (Games and Sports) to see reruns of this fun show. Its also educational, with Olmac, who gives the history basis to the obstacle courses or the the thing you need to find. Great to watch with your family
