Ante (2011)
So how much IS your life worth? Hmmm?
Two men are about to find out in this short, gripping thriller about three men in a room discussing a life or death problem.
Pierson gives the two men mere minutes to decide their fates as they are put to a test nobody would ever expect.
This film is very well acted with highly effective camera work that highlights the fear of two trapped men who are faced with the possibility of the loss of their own lives.
It stays with you well after it's done and it's not something you're likely to forget.
ABSOLUTELY worth seeing. Highly recommended!
Lilo & Stitch: The Series (2003)
Animation quality not up to the movie, but...
I always wondered how they would follow up on the movie - it was wonderful and had the perfect ending. The problem is, I'm one of these people who always wants to know what happens to the characters when the movie is over. Thankfully, Disney gave us Lilo & Stitch, the Series.
The animation in the series is nowhere NEAR the quality that we saw in the movie, but the stories are engaging and often hilarious. I totally enjoy the continued adventures of Lilo & Stitch and their friends - and it's cool to see the 625 experiments that went before our beloved experiment 626.
This show is good for kids, but has lots of great stuff for adults to appreciate.
Firefly (2002)
Unique, visionary and FUN!!
Fortunately (or unfortunately), I didn't get addicted to this show until after it was cancelled when I got the series on DVD.
What a unique blending of past, present and future this show was!! This has to be the most realistic (and most easily identifiable) vision of the future that has been produced so far!
The characters are complex and interesting, the casting is perfect and the soundtrack is one that sticks with you.
There is enough mystery about how this society got to where it is, as well as the mystery of the backgrounds of some of the characters that would keep a viewer interested for some time to come. I want more more MORE!
Add to this the fact that they did a magnificent job on the DVD! I have a high def tv and the widescreen rendering of the episodes looks and sounds wonderful - contrast this with the horrible job they did on Star Trek DS9 (which looks like crap on high def).
I can't wait for the movie, and hopefully more to come. You have to love these very well-acted characters. Serenity has become my home away from home, and these characters my family.
Joss Whedon, I SALUTE YOU!!! Thank you for Firefly!
The Invisible Man: Pilot (2000)
They were just getting started
The Invisible Man was engaging for its storylines, the all-too-human characters and the chemistry between the actors. The characters populating this show were interesting enough and their relationships engaging enough to tide the audience over the occasaional rough spot.
Despite some obvious external tinkering with the show, it managed to retain the loyalty of a world-wide audience who hungers for more.
It didn't take itself too seriously and wasn't afraid to poke fun at itself or the genre of which it was a part. The writing was sharp enough that an episode that started out silly and comical could gradually grow dark and sinister, finishing with an emotional climax that left the viewer breathless. One need only watch the first season's "Flowers for Hobbes" by Craig Silverstein for proof.
I'm one who looks forward to the furhter adventures of Bobby and Darien in new episodes of Invisible Man.
