Starved (2005)
illness
Anorexia and the other diseases covered on the show are an illness. Sometimes a life threatening illness. Ask the family members of those who have died of 'eating disorder' how funny it is to watch someone they love slowly wither away while not eating. This is on par of someone making "The Killing Fields' into a musical comedy. If anything it should be baned or boycotted by the viewers. The fact the men discuss their sexuality is just another bad joke in bad taste by a bad writer. This show is wrong and it not funny. What next 'I dying of (fill in blank).I am far more disgusted than I am amused. People who have an eating disorder could be watching the show and honestly be hurt by the show and hurt themselves further. The show even gives triggers to those with eating disorders. Again this show is an disgusting and crude.

A look at Icons
A funny-horror movie can be hard to make. In the past only a few have been sucessful. You know which ones they are, because they have a staying power that let's them be re-released constantly. The film was be about American Icons. In a sense a response to some of the very real terror in our world today directed at Americans. The Icons have grown old and somewhat 'feeble'. Yet respond to a real and present danger in their lives. Legends of 'THE King' and an assasinated President are a part of the fabric of our mythology. Icons from a time termed 'nostalgic'. Combine this with director of 'Phantasm' Don Coscarelli and actor of 'Evil Dead' Bruce Campbell two of films unsung movie greats. The result a film with humor and a loving dedication to Elvis. The humor is expansive as it always is with Mr Campbell. The direction tight and visual per Coscarelli.
Problems: Mummy's are boring. Don't look to be scared or too horrified by the story. It can be hard to make a 'funny-horror' movie.
Yet seeing this as something of a 'kind'. I think it will be studied by film students far into the next 20 years with dissertations on the 'Studies of the American dream'. Overall a must see and experience film. One that you will want to buy when it finally gets put on DVD. A film not unlike 'Evil DEAD 2' or 'Phantasm' which you will return to again and again to see that one part just one more time. Or stay up a little late to see the film one more time on late night channels.
