Suicide Kings (1997)
A Great Movie all around!!!!
This movie has a terrific blend of humour, plot twists & suspense, action and great dialogue... In my opinion, if you substituted a murder victim for the 'kidnapping' victim, it has many of the classic elements from a Dame Agatha Christie mystery. Christopher Walken, my favourite actor, once again stole the show... even spending most of the movie duct taped to a chair... due to his intense facial expressions and vocal inflection... from dripping menace to subtle, black humour... he's definitely the Master of Acting and it SHOWS in Suicide Kings! The other notable acting kudo goes to Dennis Leary, who with a steady line of profane wisecracks and one fairly intense dramatic monologue, kept up the rest of the film. All in all, a good movie to watch... i'm VERY glad i bought the DVD... But personally, i would have liked to *see* the alternate endings without the director blabbing all over the top of them...
Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995)
Great Performance As Usual By Walken
Although he didn't get enough screen time... Mr. Walken is most possibly the ONLY actor that could ooze such malevolent menace and evil whilst playing a paralyzed Mob Boss... his unique voice and manner of speaking as well as facial expressions made "The Man With The Plan" a believable character, in my opinion... Yes, it's typecasting... and kinda sad considering how multi-faceted Walken's talent is... but he does the VERY best with the roles he gets!!!
As for the rest of the movie... it wasn't the absolute best... but quite enjoyable...
King of New York (1990)
Walken's performance outstanding!!!!!
i am not a fan of gangsta/mob films, and probably would never have sat through this movie, if not for Christopher Walken... His portrayal of Frank White was certainly brilliant... although this character was definitely a villain, you could almost cheer him on... committing murder, selling drugs and prostitutes... but to raise money to keep a hospital for the underprivileged from closing, as well as cleaning up what he felt were the "scum of the underworld"... i can agree with other comments i've read calling Frank a "Modern Day Robin Hood". As for the "excessive" violence... well, be serious... are rival mobsters and cops going to settle things over a cup of tea and game of chess? i think not...
Wild Side (1995)
Edgy, Wild and HOT!
My eyes were positively *glued* to the screen throughout this movie!!!! It had an enjoyable if somewhat farfetched plot, just the right amount of action and a memorable performance from both Anne Heche and Christopher Walken.
A View to a Kill (1985)
Christopher Walken *MADE* this movie great!!!
i think Roger Moore did a good job for his last Bond film... even though some critics think his age deterred from his performance, i do not... i liked the snowboarding scene, and the Beach boys song added, in my opinion, a bit of comedy to the whole thing... this *may* be heavily disputed, but i had actually heard that Roger Moore - not his stunt double - actually did the skiing and snowboarding stunts... and is quite the skiier... but i digress... Grace Jones - Silently Menacing... i always liked her anyway, and i think she added an unusual element to the movie. Tanya Roberts - Annoying, yes... but *most* of the "Bond Girls" were, well, damsels in distress most of the time...
And now... i *might* be slightly biased, in that i am an AVID Christopher Walken fan, but i REALLY think he made the *best* Bond Villain ever!!! His brilliant characterization of Max Zorin - charming and suave, yet psychotic and sinister... really made me want to cheer for the bad guy... many trademark Walkenisms including the off the wall sense of humour... for Mr. Walken alone this is my favourite Bond film! Duran Duran's theme song was quite good too!
