Labyrinth (1986)
Labyrinth is one of the most entertaining and unique movies I've ever had the pleasure to view.
If one could get past the unavoidable flaws of creating something REAL, that is, without computer animation, one would find that this film is an exciting, enticing, mind-stimulating masterpiece. The plot is, for the most part, unique, and the characters are entertaining. One can never guess what will happen next around every turn, and optical illusions are everywhere, with the characters walking and floating around within them. There is more behind this movie than one could ever reveal with two, or even three, viewings. It's extremely easy to get swept away with the magical mysteries of this creation, and the way the characters interact with each other is, again, unique and unpredictable. The idea of the plot itself was enough to snag one's interest out from under one--and the creatures, attitudes and ambitions (of the young girl) illusions, mind-games, music, and ending add a great deal more to the absolute perfection and magic of this excellent film. People who dislike this movie simply have no imagination or taste for pure, unpoisoned adventure and excitement. It IS slightly similar to The Dark Crystal as far as the creatures and creativity go, but the plot, characters, morals, goals, and just plain overall feeling you get when it's over are completely different--and in my opinion, better. Labyrinth will always thrive and continue to live within the souls of those who have the heart, mind, and imagination enough to believe in its powerful perfection and spiritual magic.
Dinosaurs (1991)
"Dinosaurs" is one of the funniest series ever to be aired on TV!
The comedy never ends in this amazing show--it ranges from small but hilarious expressions to in-depth jokes. The characters are entertaining and believable, and their situations are unique and enhanced by their different ways of dealing with them. The dinosaurs themselves are very realistic, and make you want to truly believe in their prehistoric world that is so much like our own. There are also important and much-needed lessons to be learned from this wonderful show, and the humour is almost completely clean.
