Menolippu Mombasaan (2002)
A really fine movie!
Finnish movies have come a long way. This movie which has also had some success at festivals around the world is evidence that Finland can produce international quality movies. The actors are all really good and their performance is from time to time truly outstanding. It is always hard to make a movie with subjects like cancer but this movie manages to show cancer from a different angle. It is very nice to see the boys so full of life even in their weak situation. A must see for everyone.
Ponterosa (2001)
Almost a waste of time...
The movie started of quite funny, at least in finnish standards but sort of cooled of after 10 minutes or so. The movie was kept alive by a few funny jokes and one liners plus 3 gorgeous models whos looks made up for their lacking acting. A nice addition was Tony Halme, former wrestler and newly elected member of parliament who really showed what lousy acting is all about. In my opinion the movie failed to achieve anything, but it was a nice way of wasting an afternoon. I wouldn´t call it crap, but still nothing to cheer about.
Casa privata per le SS (1977)
A very weird movie
This was quite a shocker, well I should have known that when I rented it. It was so low budget that it made it worth watching. I´m quite new with this caliber of movies but I enjoyed it in a way, mostly because of the lousy acting, and the funny plot. I´m not quite sure what kind of people would like this movie, it gets boring in the end.
