No One Will Save You (2023)
DO NOT believe the reviews
I am very in depth and thought provoking. I always see the underlying theme and messages throughout and analyze the moral of the story. THIS HAS NONE. This movie tries so hard to be intelligent that it completely looks foolish in the end. There is ZERO payoff. I get the ending, but there's nothing to really GET! The visuals and intense sequences lead to a promising climax and/or explanation no doubt, but in the end there is ... no ending. Honestly there was no climax in general. I cannot fathom what the writer/director was trying to accomplish with so much irrelevant action and so little context, no... substance! Pass this one off as a "what could have been"!
Soft & Quiet (2022)
So close
Great acting and directing when you think about the many personalities bred by extremists. Makes you feel emotional on different levels. The problem is with the payoff. You get so much buildup and well done considering a low budget and skeleton cast but ultimately leaves you confused as to why the writer even created a timeline of events and not deliver the climax. It's like hearing the great, detailed build up of a joke and never getting the punch line! There are minor flaws with the realistic (or lack thereof) events that take place but the acting is fairly well so you buy into it. But again, poor execution in the end! So why even have an ending?! Lol.
Fall (2022)
2nd review
First review was declined for "factual inaccuracies". What does that even mean? Not even done watching this movie and I feel compelled to help others! This movie is horrible. You are literally yelling at the screen to have them do the obvious only for them to do it a moment later when it's too late. I feel so manipulated and duped. I want this time back. I mean seriously, whoever wrote this script is a genius... not because of the material, but because they were able to sell it! I can't even begin to explain how dumb and monotonous the characters are. It's like watching two grown women that are stuck in high school. The decisions , or lack thereof, throughout the movie by these two girls really do reflect the common approach by todays generation. Just horrid.
Blonde (2022)
Complete garbage
I was really excited for this, not because I'm a dude and like nudity and especially Ana. But because I was actually intrigued to learn about some of the actual backstory of one of the biggest icon in history. Maybe I was spoiled by The latest Elvis film. This Blonde movie really had a since of "blonde" attitude. No offense. The story jumps around worse than a pot of jumping beans left on the burner. This seems like it should be a "post movie" type of extra footage documentary. It's almost like you had to watch a better film that fills you in on all the important details and timeline of her life, then you can watch this Blonde to help add some spice and grit. But honestly the wife and I couldn't get past the first 30 minutes. Pure disappointment and waste of talent!
I Came By (2022)
Read this first (no spoilers)
It's obvious any ratings over a 5 must be from people that are closely ties to the movie or staff. This was ridiculous, not even worthy of a lifetime channel prime slot. There are so many time gaps in the movie that aren't even broken down, just implied. Then there are plot holes that the writer just expects you to fill in. There are characters that really had ZERO significance. I hate when there are fake reviews because it caused me to waste time that I can't get back! It's not often I take the time to submit a careful review but this time surely warranted it. There is absolutely no back story to drive the main story. I get it, it's nice when there is some mystery left to ponder but there at least needs to be a main plot and there just isn't one! This is made-for-tv AT BEST!
The Dustwalker (2019)
Atrocious
I'm not even going to know the graphics or acting because you gotta start somewhere. But the writing, oh man the writing! The main female lead is as dumb as a broken door knob. Then how you gonna confront the main alien at the end and not even fire one shot?! Not even try to save people? Just terrible , but laughable at moments
The Beach House (2019)
Save your time
This movie wasn't worth a review. However the "false" good reviews and wasted time watching this movie compelled me to write one. Good build up with absolutely no pay off, no explanation as to what or who is going on, then another "what the hell" moment at the end that offers another "no explanation" and cliff hanger moment . Trust me, save your time!
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Da worst on netflix
It's a shame. Lee use to make reputable movies in the 90's before he was clouded with the and reverse racism. I just , for once, wish he would make a movie that's solely about its advertised plot and not tie in oppression and racism. Got news for you, not everybody experienced racism and discrimination during Vietnam and world wars. There was real brotherhood as I myself experienced that didn't allow race or religion to come between us. You're a has-been lee. Move on and stop creating racism if you truly want it to go away.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
The killing of an appetite
No, I get it! But the plot was terrible at trying to portray even just a glimpse of an "old tale". There's nothing to dissect, it's all straight forward in the movie. So there's no need for any of that "oh you just don't understand it... you have to look at all the metaphoricals... you have know the story..." yada yada. Just very poor execution. Sometimes less is more!
Ozark (2017)
"What do YOU want?!"
Superb writing and acting. I always sigh when I hear someone say a sequel was better than the first, not that it's not possible, but that's always the claim in marketing. Well in this case, somehow the writing and plot got even better. You'll see some people give Ozark an average score because of the increase in screen time the wife "Wendy" gets and how she's so hated as her character. Both true. However it's all done for a reason. And it's sown up perfectly. And Tom Pelphreys acting really needs to be recognized. All that said, Ruth (Julia Garner) shines in every single scene. Watching this young woman work is poetry in motion. She makes you feel everything she feels. Commanding performances throughout, but Julia Garner should be collecting trophies this award season
El hoyo (2019)
So much potential, disappointment in the end
No no, I get the metaphorical and literal messages being portrayed and implied about the wealthy, the poor, the powerful, the weak, the haves and have nots! But if you're going to put so much effort in the journey, at least find a way to express the impact of the ending! What a waste. It's like getting creme filled donut only to find there's no creme!
Backcountry (2014)
Solid, but misleading!
Great acting and intensity. Well directed as well. There's not much to not like about this movie except that it's NOT "based on a true story". So many movies try to pull you in with those labels. Either make the movie true to the story...or make it a stand alone fictional film! At best this movie can be labeled "inspired by true events". Which honestly most realistic movies can.
Hold the Dark (2018)
So close, yet so far
The acting is superb, the graphics are beyond realistic in that they give you a real sense of anger, remorse, sorrow! The story seemed to be on a course of captivating. And in just a 7 minute anticlimactic ending, it completely destroyed every minute leading up to it. Such a shame. This is at least the 3rd Netflix original I've watched where they completely fumbled the ending. Don't know what is going on
Il racconto dei racconti - Tale of Tales (2015)
4 is generous
Basically, if you like being drawn in with bold story telling and decent imagery then this may be for you. However, if you are repulsed by stories with no climax or ending, then this is not for you. And the plot hints at 3 intertwining stories....NOT AT ALL. Just because the character appear for 10 seconds in a scene together does not make the stories INTERTWINE. Trust me you'll be disappointed. Imagine watching something like, The Departed, and as soon as the elevator opens up on Lenonardo DiCaprio the screen goes black. Yeah, like that
The Snowman (2017)
Critics are clueless, Watch it!
After seeing awesome previews I had to watch this. Unfortunately the bad reviews made me hold off. After watching the movie I'm learning more and more to never trust reviews. Someone needs to get sued! These critics must have been paid off to give it terrible reviews for some reason. Yeah it's not Seven, but it's a damn good movie with some good plot twists, makes you think a little but not too much. Not too much gore but just enough. And plenty of suspense to go along. If you are on the fence about it, just watch it you won't be disappointed.
It (2017)
Wow
Look, I'll keep it simple. Don't listen to the idiots that score anything below 8! As an avid fan of king and the original, this was right on par. Those complaining....about ANYTHING, don't have lives and just want to get under your skin. Skarsgard "KILLED" this role! Each "loser" nailed their character! The dialogue alone was superb. The acting makes you sympathetic which is every actors goal! Go see it. Remember, the reviews that are scoring low should not even be viewing horror films, because IT has it all!
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Great
For all of you saying Raimi Spider-Man 2 the best....?!😂 You are what's wrong with efficient reviews. How can you take yourselves serious , better yet how can we take you serious?! Wow, that was by far one of the worst Spider-Man movies, second to Raimis 3rd. That whole series was awful! This is a new take just as Andrew Garfield was. But to say Spider-Man 2 was even good at all, vomit in my mouth! Worst movie ever. This is is in a new era that brings more realistic humor and fun to it. Go away all you old Spider-Man fans, you don't belong lol
Cars 3 (2017)
Why
Even my son was asking throughout then entire 1 hour middle portion of the movie , "why aren't they racing, is he gonna race Jackson storm ...". I just kept saying yeah son eventually. Then it's the female that ends up racing in the end and my 5 year old son experience his first episode of disappointment and fraud. How do you explain to a 5 year old that it's politics and the moral of the story is no longer innocent heroic comebacks but now it's about equal opportunity and forcing ideas on young minds. Kids just want to see a good , animated race movie AS ADVERTISED!!! Instead it's 10 minutes of racing, and an hour and a half of training and build up that leaves you asking yourself... did this have to be nearly two hours long?! Garbage
Sorgenfri (2015)
More like 'What we should have made'
All those great reviews must be paid for, or by people from Denmark. No plot, random as hell. Not rated for a reason. Zombie film without zombies wtf? Don't develop characters at all! So sad that I had to keep writing in this review because IMDb requires at least 5 lines of text. I ran out of things to say about this movie so I'll just say that I have two dogs. One is a lab/pit mix and the other is a Yorkshire terrier. The lab poops far from the patio which is good but for some reason I can't get the terrier to stop pooping so close to the patio. It's annoying.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
Don't listen to the ignorant
The bad reviews are fake or people that got tickets for the wrong movie. This was very well scripted and didn't just give you answers. You had to be patient and work for them. Scott figured out a way to be complex with the storyline but deliver it in a simplistic way that allows you to enjoy the movie for what it is...an awesome sci-fi action/horror flick. You cannot call yourself an original Alien fan and bad mouth this movie, it is in every way in keeping with the original series but giving way more background. What more can you ask for. Great job
The Girl with All the Gifts (2016)
Reason for DVD release
If you're like me and base a lot off of previews then you'd know this looked great regardless of mixed reviews. Well, this one is an example of what could have been great. Plot was going well and so was intensity until the last 20 minutes, where the film fell completely flat. Like they ran out of time and script. What were they thinking?! Last portion of the film was a mix of walking dead, Peter Pan , and just a blob of crap. It was random and senseless in the last 10 minutes. Just stupid. And the very last scene tried to transfer the over all feel of the film from horror/thriller to happily ever after. Felt more like a long, dark episode of Saturday night live
