La La Land (2016)

La La Land sums up lives of millennials
26 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Career and aspirations have higher priority than love, that is how most of the millennial think. Drive to achieve dreams takes over anything and everything in life. In the process of doing so important people helping you succeed are left behind. Only when you reflect back after achieving success, you feel the void left your life.

Something similar happens with Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling). She wants to become an actress and He wants to revive Jazz by opening his own bar that plays Jazz. Sebastian to earn livelihood and to save enough money starts playing in a band. Mia doesn't like that as she thinks that he is living a false life. At the same time she is losing all hopes of making it as an actress. Sebastian for his empathetic nature and love for Mia makes sure that she takes her last chance at the making as an actress.

To make it big in their lives they move on separate paths and at the end of the movie their paths intersect, where both had achieved their dreams. Pain can be seen in eyes of both as both had made it big but without each other and it is evident that has left a big void in their hearts. The end of the movie brings you back to reality and makes you think twice whether there are ways to achieve your dreams by still being with the love of your life. For few who have experienced some thing similar, end of the movie is an emotional ride. I personally liked the movie for its music, all the love and bite of reality.

Emma Stone will surely get Oscar for her performance. Ryan Gosling better luck next time.

Chef (2014)

This movie is Delicious
8 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
All the foodies in the house, you will love this one. Writer, Director and Actor Jon Favreau portrayals a character of talented yet obsessed chef. He has this internal desire to break the monotony and mundane routine of cooking same food and to evolve and showcase his talent and creatively. His need for appreciation is high as he is genuinely talented but due to opposition from his restaurant owner he is not able to showcase his real talent to a famous food critic who after having his food criticizes him in his review. Here Jon has pretty effectively used "Social Networking" phenomenon to make the story progress. Once the review goes viral and starts trending, Jon's life gets changed. In consequent events a video of Jon's break down in front of the critic goes viral. He becomes famous but is out of job. The later half of the movie is how he rebuilds everything from scratch. The actual highlight of the movie is not that he rebuilds his professional career but how he rebuilds his personal life along the way. Performance of Emjay playing his son in the movie is praise worthy. The movie is funny, swift but ends with no surprises. Even then watch the movie for performances of all the actor who had small but good roles (Scarlett, Hoffman, John and Sofia). In the end why is this movie delicious? Its increases you appetite by showcasing yummy food and leaves you with your mouth full of water.

Rush (I) (2013)
8/10
One of the most Under-rated Movie of the 2013
2 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
With little knowledge of what the movie was all about i bought the DVD of the movie and saw it. It proved to be such a pleasant surprise. The basic premise of the movie is healthy, competitive and life altering rivalry between Nikki Lauda and James Hunt. Famous F1 drivers of mid 70s who went on to become world champions.Nikki Lauda is world champion and is competing with James Hunt for the title for the year 1976. Ron Director of the movie has given such brilliant portrait of both the drivers. Nikki is shown as technically correct, focus and highly skilled driver. James Hunt is flamboyant driver, who is more courageous and has nothing to lose. The Championship is a critical junction when Nikki meets with an accident and gives opportunity to James Hunt to cash on and he does. James Hunt wins the World Championship for the year 1976. One of the capturing moments in the movie is when Nikki Lauda makes a come back after getting seriously injured and wins the fourth position in race. Daniel Bruhl gave fantastic performance. little do i know why he was not nominated for Oscars. Nikki was true star though he lost the Championship but still remained the winner. Amazing heart capturing movie. Loved the way it was directed.

It is sometimes great to have rivals who can make you excel in life. Story of Nikki and Hunt. Must Watch...

Performances supersede the story
29 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
King's Speech is one movie where the story takes a back seat and actors come out and perform. Though the movie belongs to Colin Firth but the performances of Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush are extraordinary. The prime reason behind such brilliant quality of performances is the screenplay. The story is dull but some funny lines/ situations here and there makes the movie a must watch. Above i have mentioned that the movie belongs to Colin Firth, the reason being not just his performance but the amazing consistency and hold of the character. Sparing one scene where Colin Firth cries in front of Helena Bonham, his performance is brilliant. I believe if things go well than Colin Firth is on his way to win the Oscar for best actor. The on screen chemistry between Colin Firth and Geoffery Rush is brilliant and some of the scene are really funny.

Wishing Colin Firth luck for the Oscars....
