The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)
Surprisingly enjoyable, coming from a Non-Twilight Fan
So I got returned from taking my Younger Sister to see this movie. I saw all the trailers over the past few months, yet I had absolutely NO hope for this movie. But I had seen all of the previous ones... and out of those 4, only Eclipse was the good one- but even that had its flaws! But I ended up pre-booking film tickets for this one, In IMAX, at Wimbeldon in Odeon... and now, what can I say about this movie? This movie Completely SURPRISED ME! Never been a fan of the series, gave every film a run for their money- but as it turns out, I actually had a great time with this movie. My mates at College are probably going to get pissy with me... but screw them, I'll tell them every reason.
Now I don't hate Kristen Stewart, but her acting ability in the previous films (Including Eclipse) have been- appalling! However, as a vampire, while her skill still isn't great, I can definitely buy her emotionless moods this time.
Taylor Lautner, the same acting at points, but not as much of an idiot this time, so I didn't roll my eyes this time- thankfully.
Also, for a Twilight film- there was quite a surprisingly large amount of action, I mean there is an entire section for about 10 - 15 minutes dedicated to this- surprisingly intense Battle Sequence, which was later a huge bummer, as it actually turned out to be a Vision- which actually annoyed the hell out of the entire theatre... But despite this, I still found the Battle enjoyable...
So where doe's that leave us? I walked out with my Sister, with a smile on my face, speechless actually... of course it will never be the best film of the year, but it's actually worth checking out- almost makes me want to go and watch it again.
In the end- Basic story, Good action, Mixed Acting from all of the cast, Mixed VFX (Baby Renesmee was a little creepy, But the Shield Bella cast was pretty cool- worth the IMAX tickets, actually!).
I will leave this movie at 7 out of 10... Giving the entire Twilight saga, a 4.5 out of 10...
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Slow start...but awesome end!
May contain spoilers, if you haven't seen this movie yet, then don't read it! I enjoyed the first two Transformers movies in the exact same way, but TF2 I have to admit was a bit confusing. It had nice special effects and all, but the story was really confusing.
When I heard that a third was in the works, I knew that this was one I couldn't miss. After a year and a bit of waiting, it finally came out. I had been keeping up to date with the latest news that were coming out of it.
On July 6th, I took my dad with me as a late Father's day present, mainly because we both went to Revenge of the Fallen. But the problem was that it was a school day, and I had finished college for the year, younger viewers got bored and decided to start running around to play tag and make noise. Despite this, we were able to watch the film.
After leaving the cinema, we had both agreed that the film was worth watching, even though we did enjoy TF2 (UNLIKE OTHERS). TF3 was a really big improvement. Even so we believe that more could have been done.
I have two negative things to say about this film. For a start: Sentinel Prime. After seeing his character in the trailer back in December (Even though I thought he was Ultra Magnus.) I was excited to see him and Optimus fighting side-by-side against decepticon aft. Instead, Sentinal was an absolute flop, Bay had ruined his character in making him work along side Megatron. Not to mention killing Ironhide.
I do however like his appearance, and his vehicle mode or an airport firetruck. I like his robot mode and how Bay made the decision to give his head a sort of Optimus Prime look as well as giving him a sort of beard to make him look much wiser and heroic.
The second problem I have with TF3 is this: WHERE THE HELL IS MEGATRON?! He's in the film, alright. But where is he most of the time? He is the leader of the Decepticons. Yet he only has 4 major appearances through out the film, 2nd and 3rd appearance being and hour apart. They ruined his villain status and gave it to Sentinel instead, making him 'Sentinels Bitch'. (Best line from the film!) Dad and I also agreed that unlike the first film, Megatron was way too easy to kill. In the first film, Sam used the Allspark to deactivate his spark, in this one, he was just standing there one second, then the next second Optimus ripped his head and spine off. (He died Predator style!) Other than that, I like how Micheal Bay had given Megatron an Earth mode now, he has a sort of Demented version of Optimus Prime's vehicle mode. I also like how he gave Megatron a sort of mask to hide the damage he received in the second film. So yeah, thats cool, even though I must admit I liked his Cybertronian mode better.
But I have a load more positive things I want to say. Most of them are to do with the special effects, lots of nice Micheal Bay explosions. I don't see what problems people have with him going over-the-top with explosions. Thats why I love his movies! My final result: 8/10, I liked it better than the first two, but I still believe they could have had more in it!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)
The Harry Potter film of the Decade!
OK before I start this review I wanna say that this movie, OK it may only be the first part but that dosen't stop me from saying that ITS SO FREAKING EPIC!!! Me and my mum went to see this on the Wednesday after it came out. We just managed to get the last tickets. Before the film began we were really quite curious about when they stop the film for Part 2. We were also talking about going to Part 2 in July.
They film began, immediately an emotional scene arose that showed the three main people about to set out on their long journey to find these Horcuxes. As we were watching mum did point out a couple of instances that were cut out. But there was only like three or four moments she did that.
When Dobby dies I couldn't help but scream "NOOOOO!" at the top of my lungs. I was then expecting the film to end when it faded to black, but no wait.....wait for it..... Voldemort is there. He's going into Dumbeldore's tomb.
(Seriously designers why doe's Dumbeldore have a really crap tomb design?) Voldy takes Dumbeldore's wand and casts a spell up into the sky. Then........ "Directed by: David Yates" I was like: AW COME ONE! But we had to leave, we couldn't sit there till July.
My final result. 10/10! I saw it a lot more times after that. BRING ON PART 2!
SpongeBob SquarePants: Truth or Square (2009)
Really disappointing
I always thought I would never dislike an episode of Spongebob in my life. But after watching the promos and adverts, I got really excited for this movie. The promo included that Spongebob and Sandy were finally going to get married. It also said that the crabby patty formula was going to me revealed.
But after watching the episode, everything I was looking forward to went out the window. During the flashback with Spongebob learning the crabby patty formula, Plankton showed up and started to scribble a pen. During this Mr Krabs flicks Plankton off screen, then for no obvious explanation he vanished. The formula was not revealed and remains a secret.
The thing I was really looking forward to the most was the "wedding". The scene was just ending when a light fell onto the stage. After that happened, a fish yelled 'BOO!'. This was followed by Mr Krabs saying that this was the worst play ever. That really got me deep inside. The wedding was fake.
I have totally lost my trust in the writers of Spongebob. I think its time I write an episode. A good one.
