Imani (2023)
Pleasantly Surprised!
I came across this movie after doing one of my BET+ searches. Hadn't ever heard of it before but after watching the trailer, I decided to tune in and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised considering I had already watched three films that were a bit mediocre. This one had an excellent plot and storyline, the fight scenes were not bad considering and the actors did really well and it didn't look low budget as I have been accustomed to as of late so I am giving it a 10 out of 10 not to say that it was perfect but to balance out some of the other reviews that just seem absolutely ridiculously low for no reason because this actually was a good quality film. Kudos to all parties involved.

Beautifully depicted incarceration love story!
Even with the description, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was still unclear as I watched the first few moments of home videos. As the story began to unfold I understood clearly as I could certainly relate to the difficulties imposed by the incarceration of a loved one. This story was captured so beautifully in the decision of black and white imagery. The film left me with hope and the desire to "never give up".
Dads (2019)
Honest and BEAUTIFUL
I had not heard of this film but I'm glad to have come across it! It answered a question I'd been asking since publishing a book about dads in 2018, "where does a dad get to have a voice"? I felt the film was beautifully done, capturing dads from different cultures and walks of life. It was humorous, authentic, distinctive and heartfelt. Bravo!

Job well done!!!
It's evident that the promoters of the current unstable climate of this country are attempting to deter viewers with their comments. Such individuals are unable to take an objective look at the world and the inequalities that actually do exist but enough about them. This was an excellent documentary that provided more background to an already understood unjust system. It's unfortunate that 10+ years of this young man's life had to suffer to bring this mass awareness however, progress has been birthed out of his struggle. Job well done on this film!
