Música (2024)
Beautifully Shot but Missing Something
This movie was very beautifully done. The cinematography, editing, and directing choices were on point.
Cami Mendes is gorgeous and she steals the movie. In addition, there were funny moments with the puppet.
However, there is something missing about this movie. It felt a bit boring at times. I think there needed to be more work on the conflict or building more character development in relation to the conflict in the story. Personally, I needed more buy in to what he was going through.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I've always like Rudy's shorts, and I think the years of creating short videos has really paid off.
Maybe I Do (2023)
Awkward moments but mostly a sweet movie
Minus the awkward monologues about love and relationships done by Emma Robert's, the movie has a sweetness to it. To me, the parents' relationships had an element of relatability to it (despite the ridiculous plot point of them both having affairs with each other). I enjoyed their relationship dynamics the best. The actual couple was probably the worst part of the movie.
I saw the some others wrote that it was like a play, and that's a great way to put it. It definitely feels more like a play. For example, how they all watch Emma Robert's make a big speech about their love life in front of her parents (so awkward), but definitely something you would see in a play.
Overall, if you can get over the cringy-worthy moments, it's a cute movie.
Mulan (2020)
Women Empowerment?
There are a lot of things wrong with this film, but the thing that bothered me most was it's terrible message it sends to young girls. In the 90's Mulan, she has to work harder to be stronger/better fighter than the men. It shows that women can also be equal to men in abilities. In this movie, it's all about her supernatural powers. Basically saying that only women can be stronger than men, if they have some sort of supernatural gift. Thus, it's unrealistic for girls to see themselves in that role because Mulan relies mostly on this fantasy element.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Good but the casting is wrong
The movie was fine enough, but I really couldn't get over the Han character. I mean the actor that they chose looks absolutely nothing like Harrison Ford. How am I supposed to believe that he is Han Solo each time I look at him? Not to mention, that he doesn't really nail Han's mannerism. I actually like the actor too but he just isn't right for this role. If he was an entirely new character, then it would have been fine but trying to convince the audience that he is Han is just unbelievable and distracting.
