Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
Who writes these reviews? T3 wasn't bad, ok for a Friday night's entertainment but it was no way 'one of the best movies ever, man'. Too generic. Too derivative. Just another McFilm, with the exception of the ending.
Nothing wrong with that, I myself am partial to a good McFilm, but what I can't understand, have never been able to understand and will NEVER be able to understand is how something like this can have an average rating higher than films like 'White Men Can't Jump' and 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'. What is going on? Who took the taste buds out of the audience?
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)
6.7?
How on earth did this movie get a 6.7 on the ratings scale? Read the comments, this is one of the funniest and most intelligent comedies ever, remake or not. When you can watch a film 20, 30 times and still find it funny 15 years after it was first released how is that not a classic?
The Center of the World (2001)
Arty Shite or Philosophical Thesis?
Films that cause a stir like this are rare. Some reviews rave about it, others say better to spend your money on knitting needles.
The critics have a point. It is hard work, on many levels. Pre-digested sweet and tasty Saturday night stuff this is not.
But the reason it has so many riled is probably because it cuts a little too close to the bone. For a generation raised on celebrity marriages and fairytale lifestyles this is uncomfortably realistic.
Whether single, married, divorced or living a hermit life in Fiji, these are strange days. Does Mr. Wang have a point? Has he touched on something here?
Watch it and make up your own mind.
