Timekeepers is refreshingly innovative
21 January 2024
I thoroughly enjoyed 'Timekeepers...' It felt like I was witnessing something refreshingly innovative. The film ingeniously reimagines and condenses the 1980's Stephen King paranormal TV movie 'The Langoliers'. Stephen himself appears in a mad passengers', mind-bending hallucination sequence.

The mix of synced voice and 'torn paper' and the 'sound of tearing paper', stop motion animation" at first it challenges your sensibilities and expectations, but as your mind adjusts, the depth of the storytelling unfolds 'one tear at a time.'

'Timekeepers of Eternity' deserves a spot on your '2024 Must See Movie List,' offering a unique and captivating viewing experience.

Dramatically disappointing documentary
13 August 2023
This movie is a rather fractured and way too long inaccurate biopic about a 'not so nice guy' in conflict with his own ego, suffering from selective morality at the expense of his family and friends. Oh, yeah, the story is set against the backdrop of the development of the A-bomb in the later part of the Second World War. Proving once again that Americans can't be trusted to explore their own cultural history with any real subjectivity. Kitty seemed to be the only character with any backbone and a grip on reality. Frankly the second half is a really boring exploration into the dirty hypocritical backroom politics that the US is famous for. Truth be told, largely a waste of good 70mm film stock.

A tired story badly executed
8 April 2023
Well, well, well, brace yourself for another overhyped, overrated piece of cinematic trash. From the very first scene, it's clear that this movie is nothing more than a cheap attempt at schmaltzy emotional manipulation. And, unfortunately, that's exactly what it delivers. The story itself is as stale as month-old bread, with nothing to offer except tired clichés and a worn-out hero's journey.

But wait, there's more! This "hero" doesn't just come from any old planet - oh no, he hails from an advanced alien civilization that supposedly existed 65 millions of years ago. You might be thinking of something cool and original like the Anunnaki or the Heptapods from Arrival, but no, it's just Adam Driver with some outdated Star Wars 1977 technology. And what's he doing with all this space-age gear, you ask? Why, he's bringing good ole American work ethics and family values to the rest of the galaxy.

And theres the special effects, normally the bedrock of Sci-Fi but in '65' its annoyingly 'inconsistent' is the nicest word I can think of to describe them. One minute, we're in the midst of a stunning, prehistoric landscape, and the next, we're watching some poorly-executed live action with mud and smoke, that looks like it was filmed in someone's uncles farm. The transitions between the two are jarring and amateurish, which only adds to the overall disappointment of the film.

just not enough
17 March 2023
I did have great comedic horror hopes for this picture, when I first heard of it. But alas it was not to be. It was nothing more than a badly directed, edited and visualised imagining of these true events. Jerry Lewis once said "a good comedy is 33 gags strung end to end". I only counted about 5 attempted gags, certainly not enough to sustain even a mild chuckle. The cast was not really a cast, but an unlikeable bunch of hacks and has-beens trying to ride the poor bear back to stardom. Even though the CGI bear did it's best, I did feel sorry for it a times. You'll have to wait till someone outrageous can remake it to get any real satisfaction.
