YellowBrickRoad (2010)

Easily one of the worst movies I have EVER seen! MILD SPOILERS

The title sums up this review nicely. I can't believe I made it through to the end. And the only reason I did was because it was one of those experiences were you keep thinking "It's got to get better right?" "Maybe if I give it just a few more minutes it will start coming together." and by that point you are so far in that you have to see it through to the credits.

I meandering story that makes no sense at all...filled with such things as SPOILERS..a go cart that seems to have an unlimited supply of gas. People that are too dumb to figure out how to walk back on a road they just came on and don't even think to bring a satellite phone with them.

Also the "cliff jumping scene" is some of the most laughable CGI ever to grace a movie.

The only redeeming thing about this movie was the beauty of the actress playing the wife and of Tara Giiordano who I would like to see more of in other more worthy pictures.

The Rite (2011)

This movie was the poster boy of the January Studio dumping ground.

I can't even remember the last time I wrote a review on the Internet Movie Database but after seeing this movie today I feel compelled to.

Please don't spend your hard earned money on this film like I did. If you do you will find yourself waiting the entire movie for anything of note to happen and it never really does.

While you are waiting though you can let you mind wander to imagining Anthony Hopkins laughing all the way to the bank for the paycheck he cashed for appearing in this boring mess. God, what happened to him? He used to be a highly respected actor but to see the performance he puts on at the alleged climax of this movie you have to wonder.

I seriously almost walked out but I figured I wouldn't get my money back. Instead I kept waiting for the end to come. It was a religious movie and I was in purgatory waiting for it to be over. And the sad thing about this whole experience was that the theater was PACKED...late comers had to sit in the front row! This movie is terrible and worthy of the fabled January dumping ground for films no studio has faith in...no pun intended.

Adventures in Babysitting (1989 TV Movie)

Admirable Pilot based on a great movie.

I still remember this pilot as totally capturing the spirit of the movie. It was VERY good and a disappointment that it was passed over as a regular series. I would have loved following her adventures weekly. Sitcoms today are pretty much all about sex without telling a truly decent and interesting story. The idea that AIB could cram in a wacky new tale in 22 minutes every week would have been promising because the writers would have to work really hard.

Replacing Elisabeth Shue would have been hard but the actress they used was decent enough. I would like to have heard the Networks reason for passing on this. It's ten times better than the junk they have on today like BIG BANK THEORY.

The Strangers (2008)

Right up there with the original HALLOWEEN

This was a such a well done film. It's right up there in terms on spookiness with the original HALLOWEEN. The film manages to create many scares during its intense atmosphere without a ton of blood and guts. The killers were far more terrifying than an invincible hockey mask wearing villain. During the now famous pulling of the drape scene they managed to make me a grown 41 year old man gasp and jump in my seat so I found that impressive.

For every feeble effort like the PROM NIGHT remake and DEAD SILENCE along true gems like DESCENT or now THE STRANGERS.

Yes, well done, well done...and Liv Tyler is easy on the eyes to boot.

Primer (2004)

Do not rent this movie unless someone has a gun to your head!

I watched it on recommendation from a Podcasts suggesting good time travel movies. Since this is one I hadn't seen I went ahead.

I'm not a Full Bright Scholar or anything but it went beyond confusing. For most of the movie I had no idea exactly what was going on...I cannot tell you exactly what was up with why they were cutting out their two other partners...or what they were working on with the partners before they went off on their own to build the machine.

How this movie got any positive ratings I'll never know.

Its rare that I won't watch a movie till the end but I finally gave up on it. I've got better things to do.

Avoid this movie unless you like wasting money and being bored. Can't believe I blew one of my Netflix on this.
